Exactly Works as Described
This product really works. I had replaced my water heater and after about 2 weeks of use the sulfur smell started in the hot water. After doing research, I learned that the standard magnesium anode rod in the new water heater was most likely reacting with my well water causing the issue. I ordered this product from amazon and it was delivered the same day. There are quality instructions included as to installation. It was pretty easy. My water sulfur smell cleaned up in 24 hours. This product costs more than a standard anode rod but it WORKS!!!

Always works exactly as described.
I have installed this in the HW tank at two different houses and within 24 hours the smell is eliminated. I’ve used other types of rods but none work as well or as quickly as these. Installation is easy too. Well worth the money.

Corro-Protect Powered Anode Rod Removed the Smell
We purchased this for our ranch cabin because the hot water was smelling like rotten eggs, regardless of the water temperature we had the heater set on. We have a private well and the water tested fine, albeit high in iron. Installing a water softener system was not in the budget, nor realistic given the small amount of use the cabin gets. We read all the reviews and decided it was worth a try. The water heater is less than one year old, but the old anode rod did not come out very easy. We ended up having to use an impact wrench. The rest of the installation was simple per instructions. The Corro-Protec powered anode rod fit as described. After 24 hours, the smell was gone. It's too soon to tell if it's cleaning the water - we'll be able to tell in a few weeks if there's a rust ring in the toilet or not.

It really works!
I have fought with stinking, smelly hot water for a while now since big outfits came in and started drilling these huge wells and piping millions of gallons of water to sell to cities a hundred miles away and disrupting our once wonderful well water. I had been using chlorine to kill the smell temporarily, but the smell keeps coming back and it's a pain to have to do it on a regular basis, plus I didn't like putting all that chlorine in my drinking water. I looked at chlorination systems that would do it automatically, but the cost was over a $1000-$1500. I had seen this on Amazon but for the price I thought, "Yeah, another snake oil product that's just a waste of money". Boy was I ever wrong! The hardest part of the installation was getting the old anode out. Because of limited clearance the old anode had to be cut in 3 pieces to get it out, but it only took about 10-15 minutes with a sharp hacksaw blade. (Don't use a power saw. Magnesium is easy to ignite and extremely hard to extinguish.) Also, make sure to use a pair of vise grips to hold on to the rod as your cutting it. If you let the cut rod fall down into your water heater it would be just about impossible to get out. Total installation time was less about an hour. I will say my water heater was fairly new, maybe 6 months old, so the old anode came out easily with an impact. I had read that it took about 24 hours to get rid of the smell and that's about what it took. The next day I noticed no smell at all from my hot water. Oh happy day! I am so glad I decided to give the Corro-ProTec powered anode a try. I was ready to spend a ton of money trying to get decent smelling hot water back and here I wound up spending less than $200 to get my water back as good as it ever was with adding any chemicals. Thanks so much Corro-ProTec for such an excellent product. I'll tell everyone who has smelly hot water to not hesitate but buy this now!

Easy to Install Once You Remove the Old Anode – Highly Recommended!
I recently installed the Corro-Protec Powered Anode Rod, and I’m extremely happy with the results! The hardest part of the entire process was removing the original anode rod, but once that was out, installing the Corro-Protec was quick and simple.Installation Tips:Removing the Old Anode: You’ll need a 1-1/16” socket to remove your existing anode. Depending on how old your water heater is, this could be the toughest part. Mine was stuck pretty well, so I used a breaker bar for extra leverage.Installing the Corro-Protec: Once the old anode is out, installation is incredibly easy! Just use a 1-3/16” socket to screw in the Corro-Protec. I highly recommend using quality PTFE (plumber’s tape) to ensure a good seal and prevent leaks. After that, just plug it in, and you’re good to go!Performance:Within 24 hours, the nasty rotten egg smell in my hot water was completely gone! Plus, I now have peace of mind knowing my water heater is protected from corrosion, reducing maintenance and extending its lifespan.Final Verdict:If you’re on the fence about this product, go for it! Yes, getting the old anode out takes some effort, but once it’s removed, the Corro-Protec installation is super simple. Highly recommend for anyone looking to eliminate odors and prolong their water heater’s life.I will update after a few months go by to see if any negative changes.
