Excellent watch
This is an excellent watch. The illumination is outstanding as expected from Seiko. I'm getting perhaps, without obsessing over it, -2 seconds per day, which is very good for an automatic in this price range. Ignore some of the negative reviews. Most people have no idea what they're talking about. A couple of people mentioned how the "battery was dead" when they received it. This is an "AUTOMATIC MOVEMENT", it does not use a battery. Like I said, ignore the idiots. This is an excellent watch that is tough, durable, beautiful, highly accessible and sought after. You can change the band and make this beautiful watch fit in any environment you're in. This is a reissue of the Seiko SRP6309 that ran from 1977 to 1988. This watch has an updated movement with an added 50 meters of water resistance from the first model. The Seiko Turtle is one of the most copied watches by nearly every other watch company out there. Everyone copies it, but Seiko does it best. The Seiko Turtle is considered to be an icon among watch enthusiasts. Buy this watch. You won't regret it.

Great basic diver
Great basic diver. Well made, great lume, but the band is kind of lame. But there are plenty of alternative band options.

Iconic JDM Seiko Diver
Very happy with this watch. Here’s the quick down and dirty:- Keeping excellent unregulated time at about 5+ seconds a day- Case finish is very nice and on par with price point- This being a JDM model it actually has the English and Roman numeral style date. I was expecting English and Kanji but the Romans are a welcomed surprise.- Probably most importantly, NO alignment issues. Bezel and chapter ring are in perfect alignment [chef’s kiss]Main downside say is the price. $600 is a lot just to have that “Made In Japan” on the dial. But if you’re a Seiko nut like me, it’s a worthy sacrifice. I also swapped the strap out. The one it comes on is actually really nice, but I prefer the more traditional flat vent style rubber strap so I’m trying one out from Bonetto Cinturini.

great stylish watch
Well i have the 779J1 so i decided to get this one as well. I thought by purchasing at almost retail price i'd get the authenticity book, but no, these J1's i think are all grey market and are warranted only by the seller. As far as boxes, i've gotten different boxes for both my 777J1 and 779J1 weird, but the watches seem fine. This one though the bezel feels a little stiffer and a bit more precise in the clicks and quieter as well. They both have the winding feature as you screw the crown back in, sort of interesting. The black with black looks nice, but really these should be cheaper then the pepsi style. So for the price for a grey market watch, i give this 4 stars. For the watch itself, it's a 5, operation, looks/styling are just great. It's my favorite watch now, teamed up with some nice nato straps.

Awesome Watch!
This model is made in Japan. Fit and finish is very good. Price was excellent. The chapter ring issue/misalignment is so slight, that you really must look hard to see it, but its there. Other than that, no issues. The rubber strap pleasantly surprised me and surpassed expectations. I was expecting hard rubber, but instead it was very soft and supple. I intended to change it to a NATO, but decided to keep it when I saw the quality of the strap. On the time grapher, the watch keeps + 6 seconds per day with the 4r36 movement. The rotating bezel is smooth and has no play. Watch arrived on time well-packaged with no delivery issues. A strong buy.

Outstanding Seiko
I owned one of the originals in 1978 and regretted getting rid of it. I saw this particular model and snapped it right up. This Seiko screams quality so if you're considering buying the watch, just do it.* 2 years later and this Seiko keeps on ticking. I wear it all the time and have banged it a few times and there is not a single scratch I'll n the crystal. I ended up buying the matching stainless band from Japan at $125.00 and to me was money well spent. Now I don't have to worry about losing the watch to a broken rubber strap. I've owned many Diver watches including a Breitling Super Ocean and this Seiko at it's price is very well made and you'll be able to hand it down to your grandchild. Yes it really is that good!

Solid watch
Fabulous time piece incredible fit and finish in this Japan model SRP777J1. I bought this watch to replace a 6309 that I purchased while in the Navy in 1979 while stationed on Guam... years later it wound up going overboard when a springbar broke when I banged my hand on the rail of a fishing boat after losing a big fish and is now somewhere at the bottom of the Atlantic Ocean.. I'm so happy with the look and feel of this watch it's an incredible reproduction of what I cherished and lost. This is a serious time keeping tool!!!
