Pay attention to amount of buffer used for calibration!
I purchased this pH meter for use in wine making. The device is simple to use and set to the appropriate measurements that one wants to perform. I just needed the pH measurement. 3 packets of buffer packets are provided in dry form. These are each mixed in 250ml of distilled water. The calibration instructions are horrible. I put the pH meter in the whole container of each buffer solution and the pH drifted and drifted and drifted going up and down. Reading on a troubleshooting website, the problem is too big of a sample to analyze for calibration so the unit takes forever to stabilize. The solution is to use a sample size like I did- 30-40ml. This does the trick. The meter is not perfect but does get close to the labelled pH buffer (acidic, close to neutral and alkaline) strength. Push the mode button in for 6 seconds. "CAL" will display and the pH value will flash 3 times then you are good to go.

Good budget meter
This meter was easy to get up and running out of the box. I mixed up the calibration solutions (using distilled water) in three deli containers so I could close them up and store them for re-calibration down the line. The first picture is testing the PPM setting in distilled water, and getting the expected 0ppm reading. The second picture is showing it sitting in the 6.86 solution, it should be noted that my water is not at the correct temperature to get 6.86, accounting for that AND a slight variance, this meter is more than accurate enough for the home user to quickly let you find out where you're at. I double checked with a pH tester kit (one where you put a few drops of solution into a sample and match with a chart) and it matched what the meter said. The modes switch quickly, the meter reads quickly, and overall I'm happy with my purchase, it's much cheaper than lab-grade stuff, but for watering my plants, it's more than good enough!

Little glass bulb broke after 2 months of use; unit required weekly calibration.
9/15 This was easy to use for a while, until it became very erratic, and eventually the glass bulb broke. Edit: 9/23 contacted seller and they are sending out a new probe. Changing to 4 stars as I would honestly give the pen 4 stars. Once you know your water EC on average, small fluctuations aren't hard to work with and it reads lightning fast.

Clear and simple function change easy to read and use.
This is my first digital meter and it was very to use out of the box. Calibrating was easy enough.

Great for testing water for plants
It does exactly what it says it does, which is measure PH, TDS, EC and Temp. I really only need PH and TDS, but the others are a nice bonus. Most of these that do PH and TDS are very pricey. This one does it all for a great price. It’s even cheaper than the same model that only measures PH, TDS and Temp. I’m guessing that is b/c the other came out first and has more reviews. I also like how it has the automatic temp adjustment for measuring PH. A must have for testing water.

Really hate being THAT review but....
Wanted to start making my own beard care products at home and needed a pH tester. This one was delivered promptly and intact. Was very excited to use until I tried to calibrate. Yes, I know it suppose to already calibrated from factory, but I wanted to make sure it was reading accurately. Calibration process/instructions are straight and easy to comprehend, however, I successfully went through to 6.86 and 4.00. But, when I started the 9.18 step, it would not stabilize at 0.00 and would not read the 9.18 solution. Now, when I turn it on, without being in anything, the display just spazzes out and doesn't even zero out. Will be in contact with seller for either a return or replacement.

worth every penny
works great out the box it it lasts the next 6 months ill be happy id rather buy 3 of these every few years then $100 that are going to not wok just like these in the next year or 2 plus this does ec tmp and ppm to so for $12 cant beat that even if the ph stick ends up going out the other 3 things are still worth all of $12 bucks dont know if this is a ph tester thing but will not give a accurate reading if not in a well lit area will just keep bouncing around
