The mat fits well on my IKEA desk that has smooth wood veneer surface, lies flat, and does not shift. I uncurled it per the instructions on the box, and it sits quite flat on my desk. It has a frosted surface and a smooth surface and placed the smooth surface up. The frosted surface grips the desk well without actually sticking to the desk. The smooth surface provides an excellent surface for writing and for my computer keyboard and mouse pad. It works very well for Post-It notes that I use for reminders. All in all, it does an excellent job of protecting my desktop and providing a great surface for my desk work.

Got his for my computer area and love it.I can store my passwords under it for quick reference.It isn't hard as a rock but flexible.it also stays in place and you can clean it with Windex.Love it!!

This is a good desk pad. It is clear so you can place important papers (or photos!) underneath. Good size. Reasonable price. Nothing super special but a good item at a good price. I recommend.

I would give it a 4.5 star for MY usage but may not be for everyone without sticky dots. I just needed something to cover the open weave of a small wicker table I converted to a desk. Mostly to keep things from falling into the weave but still transparent enough to show off the wicker. For conventional use on a regular smooth top desk however, I would say it is heavy enough to be durable and protective but it may require clear 3M "Command strips" to keep it from sliding around. To be sure, I tested it out on a smooth table top. It has a textured side and a smooth side with the textured side having the removable label indicating that it is the side that needs to face down. Unless you have a heavy laptop to hold it down on your desk it will likely move around a bit and like that hemline that is just a tad too short for comfort, will have you tugging on it occasionally to straighten it back in place. Its not without an easy fix! 3M makes "Command strip" clear silicone dots that won't stick to a desk finish and is virtually invisible. They would provide the necessary "grippiness" without permanently sticking to and damaging the desktop finish. Even on my application I may have to resort to command dots too. Overall I could still see how this would be a nice protective mat to cover a similarly fine finished desktop if you wanted to protect it from hot coffee cups, condensation from cold drinks or just the wear and tear of stuff sliding across the desk all the time that could scratch and wear off a finish.The size was advertised 16"x36" but its more like a smidgen smaller 15.75"x 34".

I have a cheap "wood" desk and the finish has been coming off, so I wanted something to protect it as there is nothing structurally wrong with the desk. I love this mat for several reasons.•It isn't super thick. The thinness of it helps it to lie flat and doesn't change the height of your keyboard, etc.•It is smooth. It doesn't have the rubbery texture that some other mats do. It's not slippery, but it is not sticky either.•The “frosted” or textured side really helps to visually hide any dust or dog hair that might be under or on the mat.•It unrolls flat with little effort! After unrolling, I laid this out flat with some books on it and after 12 hours, it was perfectly flat. I have bought other similar protective mats for other furniture, and getting them to lay flat was a nightmare. Not the case with this one!*

This is a good size for my rather small desk. I only wanted a substitute for my mousepad but found this is a good desktop saver as well. It stays in place and doesn't move around, I like that too.

It fits my desk well. I need it cuz I wanna put my notes and photographs beneath. It is not that flat so I put a pile of books on top it and it works.

I bought this to protect the surface of my computer desk. However, when used as instructed with the smooth surface down, a mouse does not glide over the surface. I also tried with the textured surface down, and the mouse moves easier but gets stuck to the surface after a few seconds. I am going to send it back

Love this item. Its the perfect fit for my desk at work and the heavy duty plastic material makes it strong and reliable. I am so happy with this item. The clear makeup allows for the wood grain texture of my desk to shine through and still provides protection I can trust. I purposely stabbed it a few times with a sharp pencil and it left very little marks - any that were left buffed out on their own in a matter of minutes.
