Why would anyone eat this? I'm a vegetarian and have been for a very long time, but even I know what jerky should be like. This is weird. Other brands in this strange market are way better. This is crap. This company should be ashamed of their failure. People should be ashamed if they think this is comparable to jerky.

When I was first deciding my purchase, I was a bit worried about what I was getting into. Well, I just opened the package a few minutes ago, and I was pleasantly surprised. I could smell the Barbeque aroma in the package itself before even opening the packet, and it was promising. Firstly, the texture is really close to that of actual meat. It's a bit on the juicy side, but not to the point to where it'll spill all over you. When chewing it, it wasn't a chore, but it is sort of tough. Instead of telling you how tasty it was (because opinions differ), I'd rather tell you what it tasted like. It's on the sugary side, but it has that mesquite taste as well. If I had to compare it to something else, I'd choose Chinese food. If you enjoy that type of flavoring, I'd highly consider this jerky. I plan on putting this into my stir fry because I know it would compliment dishes like that perfectly.

I was hesitant to try this product because before I was a vegetarian I didn't really do Jerky but all that changed. I order this one and a Seitan one which I had never had Seitan before. This BBQ one I think is better tasting than the other options, the texture of it is best described as thin and chewy and it gives you a great BBQ quick although t I wasn't really a fan of the BBQ sauce they use but for a snack I can trow in my purse or work-desk i wont complain. Its easy to open and carry and an awesome low calorie on the go snack that actually makes you feel like you are eating more than twigs and leaves (NO MORE BARS YAY) Warning- Your non Vegan friends will steal them from you so keep it safe! I will be buying the big pack of this next time and always will keep it in stock in my house.

I love these strips! To start with the good— the texture is WONDERFUL. There is a nice stringy chew without being too tough. They’re also the perfect snack size. I dropped a star because they are slightly complicated to open and the flavor is on the sweet side and not 100% convincing as meat. In addition, like others have said, they’re a little moist and saucey— I liked that but it might make them a bit less convenient! Overall, I can’t wait to try the other flavors! Definitely wish I’d just ordered the big pack, because now I have to wait for more to be delivered :-)

Bought as a gift, she loved them.

This has been a go to high protein and low calorie snack for me (a long time vegetarian) and my sister (not vegetarian at all) for many years. I like it for traveling especially. Each piece is pre packaged and sealed. One piece is 80 calories and 10 grams of protein. When I'm traveling and can't always find items on menus to order that balance ALL of my nutrition groups, this is the best and easiest solution.

Although meat is my favourite food, it makes me ill so I have never eaten real jerky. This venture, then, was something of an experiment. And it came as a surprise just how much I actually liked this strip. I could easily see myself getting addicted but, much as I would like to, couldn't give it 5 stars simply for the amount of sugar yet an almost total dearth of fat and fibre in it (1gm fat,1gm fibre, 5gm added sugar). As a high protein bar, 5gms of sugar out of a 28 gm total seems an awful high percentage. I'm also a little confused over the vegetarian spices since, to my knowledge, a spice is the seed, fruit, root, bark of a plant primarily used for flavouring, colouring or preserving food. And I know of no spice plants that are anything other than vegetarian in nature. However, along with the soy sauce, they did give the chew a good BBQ flavour. The packet wasn't particularly easy to get into (warning for those planning on taking them along on hikes for the first time) but it had protected the chew from drying out. Perhaps a little too much as, vacuum sealed into the plastic, it was very tacky to the touch once opened - so not good finger food. I had expected the chew to be a single bar but it was more like a number of short strips compressed one upon another that couldn't quite be easily torn apart. These had an excellent chewable fibrous texture though, something I find completely lacking in most plant foods. Do I think it is worth the current £3 price ticket? Not really but I did enjoy what the money bought. I also know full well that I am going to be tempted to indulge again at some point in the future.

Aiming to go wild camping in May and as a vegetarian have been looking for ‘meat substitutes’ to see me through 300+ miles This vegan jerky offers 10g of protein in one packet. Was a tad expensive but the postage was free (so can’t complain) -& only bought one as wasn’t sure it would be edible. I will definitively purchase larger quantities before travelling. Is long life and should be perfect for protein-fix on a long hike.

Truly terrible. Nasty taste, and a grim sticky coating.

These were so yum, really nice flavor, the only down side was how small the pack is, i was a little sad when i finished it, i will for sure buy this brand again.
