A real redacting marker - not just a black ink marker
A lot of "redacting markers" out there are basically just black markers, no different from a Sharpie - the text is still visible after using them. These markers have an opaque paint-like ink that covers up printed text completely with one pass.

Works Well Enough
I'd been looking for something to scratch out personal information on Rx bottles. These work just like a kind of paint marker. It has a ball inside that you can hear shake. You press the tip on a piece of paper (that doesn't bleed onto anything) until the ink shows on the tip. From there, you can basically stroke the tip over the area like a highlighter. You can't press too hard because this ink will bleed through regular pieces of paper depending on how many times you pass over. It's heavy ink. On paper, it worked well to cover the information, and I didn't see anything even when I held it up to the light. I used a regular sharpy next to it, and you can see the difference in the two in one of my photos. The Sharpie was transparent when held up to the light. What I did notice is that on an Rx bottle, you needed more passes to cover all of the information, but when pressed too hard, the ink started to erase itself and reveal the info under the ink. So you need to be careful with the pressure. Also, on the Rx bottle, the ink does take longer to dry. I had to blow on it to move it along. So, different papers are affected differently by the ink.Overall, this worked well. I'd test it on different papers to see if it works for what you need to redact.

Overpriced dried out markers
To have paid almost $50 for these markers, I'm highly, highly disappointed. I tried using several, but they were all dried up, despite being individually sealed. I had to return them but really needed to use them for some business documents. Would not buy again.

Does the Job!!
I think overall these work very well! There are some instances where I feel I need to put multiple swipes of the marker in order to fully obscure my information, but it definitely makes me more comfortable disposing of personal papers without a shredder. The mechanism works kind of like a paint or tide-to-go pen. You have to press it down for a little while on the first use to get the ink flowing, and then it's good to go. So far I haven't used up a full pen so I'm not sure how long they last, but with a pack of 12 I think I'll be good for quite awhile.Great option for helping to avoid identity theft!

It works great to erase information in the paper
These markers are great for erasing private information. We needed these kind of markers at work because every end of the month we had to dispose our clients meds and erase their private information in the meds. These markers are awesome for erasing informations in the paper!! It is bold and dark. You cannot even see the back part of the paper. Buuuuut, when I tried to erased my information in one of my old meds bottle, I have to erased it more than one stroke because if it is just one stroke I can still see letters and numbers in the bottle. Please see my pictures. You can still see letters and numbers in the bottle that is because I did one stroke in that part while the rest is I had to erased it more than one stroke. And then, I tried to erased my information in my old expired credit card, if it is glossy and shiny the marker is not quik to dry. And when it dries, I can still see my information in the card even if I did 2 strokes. And I can wipe out the marker in the card. So, this marker will only works great in the regular paper but not in the glossy and matte type.

Works well
Worked very well. I suggest doing two or three coats on some types of packing.
