Yes, I bought these for the podium chill, and they work great!

Can this cap cover work on a polar bottle?

I've been using them on Polar bottles with the Surge Cap since December. It works, but not perfectly. You really have to mash the covers down on the spout and they can pop off fairly easily. That said, they work well enough that I will continue using them. I typically put the cap cover back on once the bottle is back in the cage. A little extra effort, but it has been worth it to me. Overall I've been pretty happy with them; especially since they are on a cap they were not designed for. I'm road biking, not mountain biking, not sure if the rougher terrain could make a difference. They seem to fit much better on the Sport Cap. They pop right on, no mashing. I have not used the Sport Cap on a ride so I can't say how well it works on the road.

Do these work on camel backpacks? The tube doesn’t have a cap

No it’s only for bottles but they also offer caps for camel backs

Will this fit a specialized bottle?

I doubt it will fit a specialized bottle. Camelbak's bottles seem have an extra wide mouth as compared to regular bottles

Way too costly...

Way too costly. I mean, to be frank they should have included this bit with the original Podium bottle itself.First they exclude this mud flap (which happens to be the one of the main accessories) from the main bottle and then they charging a fortune, nearly a quarter of the main bottle price, is really insane!Really bad marketing tactics... Totally distasteful.!Had I known this earlier, wouldn't have gone for this brand at all..
