Works well at a good price.
I tested it first with a resistance decade box (I'm an electronics nerd) and it seems to do something reasonable. Next, I tested my brake fluid. The lights shot right into the danger zone! No great surprise, I guess. The fluid is 16 years old. Next step is to get it changed. I tested it on a new bottle of DOT 4 and it showed good. Conclusion, this thing works fine for something less than $7. There are much more expensive versions, but what more would they do? Gripe? Battery holder needs work. Oh well.

This is a great tool that makes money
This tool makes me money for such a small investment. Contamination of brake fluid from moisture is not good. I've seen components corrode and break on older vehicles. I've pressurized vehicles and bledd bleeder screws that have not gotten regular brake flushes and the moisture content is almost always present I'm the master cylinder after using two or three quarts and the fresh fluid. usually the fluid in the master cylinder stays dark in color and I'm telling you, the fluid coming out of the bleeder screws looks clean. I'm going to begin testing the fluid coming out of the bleeder screws if they are convenient to catch and if the environment isn't excessively humid. Anyways, the way I test the pen is test fresh brake fluid in a small sample then spray a mist of water with a sprayer bottleand monitor moisture ratings with the pen. I understand you can test brake fluid with a multimeter as well but this is so cheap and convenient. This brake fluid tester and then a good flare wrench set and l maybe even offset/modified offset wrenches just in case could be good for not having to remove a tire to open bleeder screws on vehicles equipped with electronic parking brake systems. I'm paid .5 labor which means the tool pays for itself after the first brake flush, so it's a heavy hitting money tool. It's very good guys and gals. Like an amazing tool. I like to purchase a new one every few months cause I basically test every vehicle during regular maintenance. Once it's 4% or more then I suggest doing the maintenance. I've noticed vehicles who have regular flushes then the master cylinder is usually able to stay clean and keep moisture saturation low. There's only one vehicle I tested that had absolutely perfect brake fluid inside the master cylinder which happened to be a Mercedes that likely recently had a brake flush. I was impressed.

Good brake fluid Tester
Brake Fluid Tester arrived on time. Quality is decent and price is very reasonable. It is very easy to use and get the moisture content reading which I believe is in acceptable range. Only con is the battery cover. You have to use a mini flat screwdriver or a knife to open the battery cover. I would have given it a 5-star review if opening battery cover was easy.

Brake fluid tester review
I found this tester brake fluid tester does a good job. I tested two of my vehicles. I performed the test on my newer Toyota, and it did not need new brake fluid as it read at most 1% water content. My older Toyota, and it read in the 3%~4% zone noting it needs to be changed. This tester gives me a good idea of how my brake fluid is doing. - I found it to be easy to use - I found it alto be accurate You can see my full video on my YouTube channel (search YouTube for this product name review)

This tester doesn't work
This tester doesn't work, don't waste your money. I was excited about getting one of these brake fluid testers for the first time, and at $5 and change you can't go wrong right, lol, wrong. Tested in old fluid, works, tells me it's bad But wanted to be sure it wasn't just always reading that. Took an opened new fluid container and poured some out in a cup and tested, bad ... Ok, maybe it was, it had never been used, but whatever, I went and pulled a never opened container off the shelf, pulled the seal under the cap off, poured some in a cup, exact same reading, bad, all the lights, now I'm stuck with a tool that's not worth the gas to drive to the UPS store for the return 👎 Don't buy it, it's junk Oh, and as others here have wrote, brake fluid washes the writing off the side.... Of a brake fluid tester 😄 you can't make this up Used once, and it was washing the L off, if you're not careful everything will come off, I'm pulling the battery and throwing it out.

Worth buying
I bought this knowing I had some brake work coming up. I also had 2 other vehicles that I wanted to check before I did a flush (as it’s extra work if not needed). The brake fluid I was replacing registered bad (4% water) on the tester. Interestingly enough, the new brake fluid tested at 1% out of the bottle, which is still safe to use, but a little concerning for new fluid. But it was a brand I got for a good deal and usually don’t use. I tested my newer truck and it tested good. My other vehicle, a little older, also tested at 1%. So that saved me time and money on the fluid change. If I test another new bottle of fluid from the popular brands, I will try and update this review so you can know the results. However, this is a review for the tester, not the fluid. So really, buy the tester. It won’t be used often probably, but it’s cheap and it could keep you safe if you find you have a lot of water in your brake fluid.

Passed my tests
Bought this awhile ago but didn't get to use it until this weekend. The results were consistent with what I expected - Tested on a 19 year old car 189K miles never had brake fluid change. It showed yellow > 2%. Good. I changed the fluid. - Tested on a 7 year old car 72K that never had the brake fluid change. It showed green. OK, but i will change the fluid soon. - Tested on 2 old dot3 fluid bottles i bought +5years ago and both showed yellow >2% . The bottles still had tight seals on but some how moisture still got in. Didn't want to take a risk on old fluid so I threw them in the oil recycle bottle. - Tested on new dot3/4 fluid i bought and it showed green which is expected.

Does not look like picture as advertised. You would have to use a sharp edged knife or something to open it. I am sending it back due to other comments about the battery cover and the inaccuracy of this product. Obviously a piece of garbage and not worth buying. The well-known YouTuber who suggested this will be contacted to tell him about his poor product suggestion
