Just One of Those Days : Murphy, Jill: desertcart.in: Books Review: Sehr schön zum Vorlesen. Review: I grew up on Jill Murphy's books and am now reading them to my child, who also adores them. I was so pleased to discover a new one written in 2020 and delighted to find its a hit with my daughter who asks for it again and again. It is more modern than the others -- it would suit those whose children go to nursery and have working mothers -- but many of the details surround that ecco perfectly with our lives and our child can relate to them as well. Like all her books, it has beautifully observed details ("and then he took off the labels"). This one incorporates many of the things which my child finds difficult at nursery ("someone else got the red cup") which she finds gripping as she clearly is processing a lot of these feelings through the book (and realising that she is not alone in having them). I highly reccomend it for parents who have a child adjusting to nursery and experiencing some of the challenges related to that. I'm so pleased that Jill Murphy is still on top form!

I fell in love with the Bear family many years ago with "Peace At Last" and "Whatever Next". Here at last is another instalment about the Bear Family in a gentle story we can all recognise - a bad night's sleep is followed by "Just One of Those Days" where nothing goes right for Mum, Dad and Baby Bear. This book is full of beautiful colour pictures, with a multitude of line drawings around the text. Jill Murphy has a wonderful ability to portray warmth and light; the dawn glow spills into the room at the start, light bounces off Dad's shiny shoes, and the golden glow of a bedroom lamp lights Baby Bear to sleep. The facial expressions are magical and the situations very recognisable. The pictures are a treasure trove of things to discuss; Baby Bear's teddy is looking at the reader towards the end and I can almost imagine what he's thinking. The story is fun for sharing with lots of appeal for the children (spot the dinosaurs and the unicorn t-shirt) and sympathetic nods of understanding to parents. I thought it was wonderful. Welcome back to the Bear Family!

Such a beautiful book my grandchildren all adored peace at last which is my favourite but this is a beautiful story as well Lots of pictures just wonderful
