Truly the sweet spot between blue and red, and yeah… it absolutely earns the hype. It’s definitely stronger than blue. Not "marketing stronger" either, but actually stronger. Be mindful of what you're putting it on, because when it's time to remove the fastener, it takes considerably more force than blue ever would... And if after a long day you get a little carried away or careless with it, this stuff will happily strip an Allen, Torx, or bolt head. Ask me how I know. 😅 I'd call this perfect for high-vibration applications: thumpers, motocross bikes, two-strokes, and anything single-cylinder that loves to shake bolts loose. I'm running it on my Ducati Hypermotard 698 Mono, and it's been rock solid. Bottom line: If blue isn't cutting it but you don’t want to go full red, Orange Gel is the move. Just use it intentionally and with good tools. This stuff means business.

BEWARE Used this on a bunch of M4 button head socket cap screws in a build with 2020 extrusions and drawer slides for a vehicle - worked great, no rattles, easy to use, etc… However - I’m now switching out the slides to something stronger, something I didn’t anticipate needing to do, and it’s been brutal. The M4 screws have a 2.5mm hex head, and so far it’s been impossible to get the proper amount of torque on the screws before stripping them. The only way I’ve been able to get them out successfully so far is by heating each individual screw up with a small butane torch until it gets to around 250° F, then applying strong constant pressure to turn them - this method is 5 for 5 at this point, and now I’m out of butane. What have I learned? Using blue on these M4’s would have ended up saving me what I’m estimating to be 4-6 hours of work in the end. Orange is awesome for an M8 or bigger, maybe an M6, but not for small screws where I can’t get the needed torque.

Great high strength/removable thread lock. Keeps your bolts from backing out-yet the bolt can be removed when needed. Highly recommend!!

Summary: Having used threadlocker, in many formulations over the past 30 years, I was interested to try this higher strength threadlocker. Loctite is the industry standard, and their 242 blue medium is most common, and 271 red permanent is the strongest. Observations: This orange by Permatex is right between those two; 3x higher than medium/blue, but still removable without heat. Recommendations: A clean fastener surface is paramount to a good bond. While it might be tempting to save money by buying a larger container, keeping an open container for years usually results in poor performance over the long run; so buy just what you can use in a year's time. Pros: Permatex is an industry leader, like Loctite; Gel formulation for less running. Cons: Cost (higher than typical pricing). Conclusion: At $10 for a 5g tube, that is higher than typical pricing, so 4-stars.

We had a problem with the air compressor hose leaking slowly around the connector and losing pressure. I wasn't sure if the cable was damaged or not so we liberally applied this gel around the threads and used a wrench to fully tighten it down. I waited the recommended 24 hours for this to fully cure, and then was pleased to see the air compressor fully holding the 120 PSI tank without leaking at all. This stuff is great and we will be using it again to lock threads down tight and prevent them from leaking or coming apart.

good stuff. this bottle is massive, don't let the pictures fool you into thinking this will work for your tiny bolts on your robot. this is for large semi-truck nonsense.

I like the Permatex products. I find that they work well for my applications.
