Don't worry about the negative reviews here, they have failed to read the manual. You need to firmly press down the sides of the cover and let them hook in with a click. After that just push the buttons and it takes care of the rest! I have used it with my Avano Precision Cooker sous vide for about two months ~15-20 bags with a maximum length of 20h cooking. No issues at all.

works great. it was a gift, and tried it out--love it. it's nicer than the one i have (the larger polyscience vacuum sealer).

Stay away form this vacuum sealer. Had it for only a week and it failed to completely seal my items 3 times. Failing to seal completely would not have been that bad had I not been using it for Sous Vide where you vacuum seal your food and cook it in a water bath. So when the seal failed the leaky seal filled the food bag with water ruining the food. Also I had to forcibly push down the lid to get it to seal at all, something I only had to do with my old vacuum sealer after many years of use. Due to it not sealing completely I returned this after only 8 days of use. Will stick with Food Saver brand from now on.

This is not a quality product. It's honestly surprising, and kind of a bummer, that a company as quality as PolyScience would put their name on it. The one time I tried to use this i could not get the locking mechanisms to catch securely and therefore could not get a proper seal. One side would catch and then I would have to manually pop the other mechanism out to try to get that to catch at the same time. Never really worked. Wasted a bunch of bags trying to get it to do so. Will avoid using again at all costs. If anyone has any suggestions on anything better in a similar price range, or a bit higher, please let me know! Thanks.
