Stereo playback and calling over Bluetooth made simple in an advanced audio system
I love this thing, as far as I can tell the only alternative has been the JK Audio BlueDriver-M3, which I used for years. The problem is that the JK Audio BlueDriver-M3 uses cheap digital to analog converters and can only output a mono signal. So, while it was good enough for calls it left much to be desired when listening to music. As a result, I ran a separate Bluetooth receiver, which led to me juggling the connection between the two among other problems. The Audinate ADP-BT-AU2X1 does it all, high fidelity stereo output for listening to music, and Bluetooth calling. Not to mention that it keeps the signal in the digital space, highly preferable to having a cheap built in D/A converter. I used Audinate's ADP-AES3-AU-2X2 to pipe the signal from the ADP-BT-AU2X1 to my Fireface UFX+ over an AES connection, where it is then converted to analog to be transported to my speakers and headphones. Likewise, since the ADP-AES3-AU-2X2 has an AES input I can send the mic signal from my UFX+ into the Dante network, where it can be routed to the input of the ADP-BT-AU2X1. Long story short I can take calls with my CIEMs and studio microphone, instead of clamping my phone between my ear and shoulder for long periods of time. Additionally, the ADP-BT-AU2X1 never turns itself off, and never automatically connects to your phone. While I could see an argument as to why have auto-connect would be convenient, I personally think this is the best system. You choose when you're connected, and if you disconnect via your phone, it doesn't just reconnect without your permission. This is my first foray into the Dante ecosystem, and it couldn't have been easier to setup. Input, output, and power over a single cable. Super happy with this little guy!
