Saved me $420!!!
I needed to replace the bade and the fob for my 2014 VW Jetta because the metal holding the blade broke. I received the order the second day with Prime, it was well packaged in a small pouch inside a box with a 2nd order. It included the VW logo sticker inside the new fob, a new pin and a new uncut blade. Great quality, looks and feels just like the old one. Installing was easy, got it open and swapped the chip with the bad old fob. The toughest part was taking out the pin that holds the blade, you have to hit hard until it’s out but other than that it worked perfectly and I’m happy I saved $420, because the quote from the local key place to replace the whole key was $430. 👍😁

Good quality shell
My daughter's fob fell apart and I was able to fit it with this. I took out the circuit board and it was an easy swap. The key, however, was much more difficult. The parts on this shell and the OEM shell to not line up so you can't swap the key over. What did work for me was removing the key blade by pressing out the retaining pin then swapping it with the blade in this shell. It looks great and I even swapped over the VW logo so it really looks like a new OEM key fob now.

Junk, look elsewhere!
I went through every step and was all excited to try the replacement fob and it was a complete waste of time as it malfunctions. Every button pressed on the fob sets the car alarm off. You can’t unlock, lock, or pop the trunk open. You also can’t turn off the alarm off by the fob. The buttons are very stiff and hard to push. Even with proper tools it took a great deal of time trying to get the roll pin out, the pin got ruined and I had to purchase a new one. There’s better replacements out there I’m sure, just hoping to save some people lots of frustration.

Key blade too tight for factory blade, and VW sticker not included
I purchased this to replace a factory fob that was beat up and whose blade holder had cracked and lost its pin. Not wanting to have a new blade cut when my factory blade was just fine, I removed the blade from the new fob and attempted to install my factory blade into it. However, the slot the blade goes into was machined undersized for the factory blade. Also, mine did NOT include the VW sticker that goes on the back and is visible in the 5th photo in the listing. I scrounged another blade holder and was able to assemble the new fob successfully. The rest of it seems fine (aside from the missing sticker). I could have used it without problem if I had planned to have the new blade cut to match my lock rather than reusing my blade. The plastics appear to be nearly equal to factory quality, and the buttons work smoothly. The blade spring seems thinner/weaker than factory but works fine (at least for now).

Good replacement, with a couple small issues
Lost a star because the key blade is not a drop in replacement (slight size difference). This replacement lasted 2 years before the rubber pad started coming up. Tips for successful replacement. 1. The OEM fob has a "locking pin" to try to prevent you from easily replacing the shell. It's not worth it to try to save the shell so don't worry about destroying THE SHELL, but be careful not to damage the circuit board inside the fob as you will need it. I used needle nose pliers to destroy the plastic around the pin by flipping the key to the ready position (like you would to start the car. Locate the silver dot that was under the blade, this is the locking pin. And use the pliers "backwards" to force the shell apart. Once the plastic around the pin breaks the rest comes apart easily. 2. There is no board in the package, this is just a shell. If your issue is the ignition lockout or the electronics this will not help you. 3. Since the OEM blade will not fit in the new shell youll need one of tge blanks cut and most locksmiths will not cut it unless you ask the right way. More often than not this is because they get a lot of upset customers who don't realize theres no board in the shell or that a new board would need to be paired with the car and the manufacturer / dealership has to do that. I suggest making it well known that you understand this before even show them the key. I went to 5 locksmiths before realizing this, when I got to the last I worded it like this "I understand that chip keys have to be programmed. I also understand that without programming the car will not start. I will be a 100% satisfied customer as long as I can put the new key in the ignition and turn it whether or not the car starts. Can you cut this key?" Even then they confirmed that I understood the key may not work, but at least after that they were willing to cut the blank. 4. This shell comes with the locking pin, but unless you're abnormally violent with your keys I'd recommend not using it. This is to make replacing it easier should the need arise. I went 2 years without it fine and now that I need a new case again I'm glad I did. 5. This one is only cosmetic, but the VW logo on the back fit perfectly, however I did almost lose it and had to superglue it to the new shell because the adhesive on the OEM logo didn't stay in place after removing it from the original shell. All in all the (rounded) $10 for the shell and blade, $25 to get it cut, and half tank of gas to find a locksmith to do it was well worth it when compared to what a dealer would charge for replacing and pairing a new fob. Plus future replacement will only need the cost of the shell as long as I stick with the same brand.
