Why did you pick this product vs others?:Needed to keep the dog in the yard.Latch quality:Need to block the bottom of the gate.

Easy mount gate latch, very well constructed and galvanized.

Seems really sturdy but not used yet purchased so I would have tool when needed.

This does not fit the pipe it was made for. Even if you do not use the latching piece, you can not get it tight enough if stay in place on the pipe. Once the latching piece is in there is so much slack the part slides, so forget it being a latch because it will not hold the door in place. A simple push causes the door to open. Right now I have two options, drill a hole through the latch and frame so the device doesn't slip, or try wrapping the pipe with something to take up the slack between the pieces. Because of the design you can't get a bolt through the latch and still use it. Also the dimensions are wrong. There is a 2" space between the poles, not 1.6". Plenty of space for a chick to get out.

The media could not be loaded. I bought this out of desperation. I have a small dog who is an escape artist. I have tried many things to stop him from getting out of the yard. Then I thought of this idea, put a 2nd latch on the bottom of the gate and connect a piece of metal to the top latch and the bottom latch. He has not escaped once since then.

Item was to big for what I needed.
