Perfect striker, made my camp buddies jealous
Ordered this for one of my pack fire kits and honestly at first I was a little leery because I was afraid this would be some cheaply made Minecraft looking piece of 420 steel and a rock. I'm an avid outdoorsman and like to start fires with a ferro rod, hand drill, or bow drill, but I've recently gotten into making char cloth so I had an altoids tin that needed a firestriker. I had a piece of flint already but this was a good deal so I got it. Went with the three finger design over the larger four finger because I was worried the larger model wouldn't fit in the altoids tin. This thing worked on the first strike, and I got a fire going immediately. Can't tell you how pleased I am with it. This is the real deal. It's solid flint, a large piece of it at that. I may end up knapping the flint into two smaller pieces for two fire kits later. Thanks!

Four Stars
Works well, although my flint was not very sharp, so it was hard to get sparks at first

Tough to start fire.
Using the flint starter without special starter fluid is very difficult. Grandson, dad and Grandpa all tried without success.

The flint was nice though. Please change your steel supplier or stop ...
The steel does not have a high enough carbon content to create a spark on the flint. I took a file to the flint and got sparks every time. I used the steel in the kit and got 0 for 10. The flint was nice though. Please change your steel supplier or stop selling these. Thanks!

Works but flint is way too small to let first time users of flint to learn how to use it effectively. Not worth it for the price.

Works Great
Works great. The striker fits comfortably over three of my fingers. It's small enough that my 6 year old son can also use it. The flint I got was a light brown colour and makes nice sparks. I can get it to spark around 4 out of 5 tries. Paired with a piece of charred cloth I've lit around 50 fires in the last two months or so, no problems at all. The edges of the flint is starting to wear round. A small, sharp blow with a light hammer fixes that quickly. My only complaint would be that the chunk of flint I got was slightly too thick to go into an Altoids tin. A little work with a cold chisel solved that, but now I have a handful of small shards that I don't know what to do with.

Good flint and steel set
It throws great Sparks. I thought it would be a little bigger though. I wear a size large glove so my hands aren't huge. I thought I would be able to fit my 4 fingers in the steel but I have to leave my pinky out. Not a big deal and it in no way hinders the performance. It came with a nice big piece of quality flint.
