One of the best Isekai
If you are hesitating to read this wonderful work due to mistaken comments about the protagonist, do not consider them, because they are very far from reality. The novels are easy to read, the story is well paced, and the world well put together. The protagonists and their actions are consistent, which helps to put together a very interesting fantasy plot that keeps you reading, there are not many boring or tedious moments.Regarding the protagonist: He reincarnates in a newborn baby after dying in his life prior to his 34 years, with many social problems and a trauma that prevents him from leaving home. He is now a child, but he retains memories of his past life.1) He is not pretending to be a child.2) His adventures does not seek to return to his previous life.3) His sole purpose is to seize this second chance to live to the fullest, not like his previous life.It does not make sense to blame the protagonist of being abusive, since he does not take advantage; or cheat; or manipulate his companions. That being said, he is supposed to be a nasty, obnoxious person at first, you can even tell that he's horny most of the time. The whole story is about how this person learns to relate to people, take advantage of this new life and how he is transforming from the detestable man who was in his past life to a character worthy of respect that puts his family first.Really a wonderful story.

My Thoughts
I am a fan of the series. I've gone from anime, to manga and finally to the novels. Never knew they existed, it is a sjame since this work can rival any other of the like. The beauty of this one was the ideas put into the world and the relationships. The relationship dynamic has, like an overcast and gloomy day bloomed into the most beatiful of days, which is heartening. Good character development; I hope Aisha and Norn get closer. The humor is also nice,ha.Only thing is, while the idea of the world is certainly intriguing. The descriptions or detail I find lacking. But that is an artform since too much description makes for a tiresome read. Well, on to the next. I think reading is my thing, since I've abandoned the anime, sort of.

A perception shift
So, if you are like me, then you looked at the front cover and thought: Norn what a little c***. However you shall slowly but surely connect with her low self Esteem. Poor girl! To be a legitimate 10 year old amongst these monsters. What a little sweet thing so sowwwry you had this as your comparison

Love the slice of life and tension
Great volume as always. Love mushoku tensei's world building and detail. Looking forward to next volume, which seems to be extremely foreboding.

Bit boring, mostly an intermezzo of sorts
The book consists of two parts, the first half is a slice-of-life at the university in which we get to know Rudy's sisters and a bit of Rudy's life in his previous life. The second half is a string of random encounters on the road. The university part include a bit of character development and progress in Rudy's life and those around him. The second half is a bit boring, and includes a bit of fan service of sorts, succubus being one of the monsters on the road, although it is kept within reason. Not to the best in the series, but it is decent enough, especially the first half.
