Complaining it was out of calibration is like whining about a clock that displayed the wrong time. It must be set before use.
Normally I'd probably rate this a 4, but I'm giving this a bonus star because of how amazingly inexpensive it is.Let me clear up something other people have reported. First, this is an altimeter. It determines elevation based strictly on air pressure. Air pressure changes as often as the weather. Literally. All altimeters (not just this one) need to be re-calibrated a lot. It's the nature of the instrument. Complaining it was out of calibration when you opened the package is like complaining about buying a clock that displayed the wrong time when you opened it.Now that's out of the way, this unit has 5 sensors in it. A barometer/altimeter, a thermometer, a compass, a clock, and for whatever reason, a little level. All of them, on mine, seem to be working correctly. I bought this one for relative altitude function, which is useful for measuring the heights of building, or the depths of mines, where GPS is unavailable. Resolution is 3ft, or 1m.
