Love this little coffee maker!
Arrived so quickly. It arrived 2-3 hours after i ordered it which was great because my current coffee maker suddenly quit working that same morning. It was a Mr. Coffee 12-cup that lasted for 13 years so I figured that i got my money's worth. So I thought I would go with Mr. Coffee brand again.Anyway, this time I decided to try the 5-cup because I no longer need a 12-cup as I now live alone. I've only had it for 3 days but so far I love it. It works great. I don't like warm coffee and this little coffee makes makes hot coffee, but not too hot to burn you. It stays hot until you turn it off. It is not programmable but that is not a feature that I'm crazy about anyway. The handle on the carafe isn't too small, just the right size. The carafe has a wide opening which makes it easy to clean and the glass carafe is just the same glass as a 12-cup, only smaller. The basket uses the 7" filters which I was already using in my old unit so I didn't have to buy new ones. I don't like the cone filters and I'm glad this one doesn't require them. I especially like that it doesn't take up as much counter space because I have a small kitchen and don't have much counter space to spare. It doesn't brew as fast as a large coffee maker but that is no problem for me. I turn it on when I get up, then go get dressed. By the time i get back to the kitchen, it is finished. It does have the pause feature if you are in a hurry. So far, I'm very pleased with this little coffee maker and don't share any of the negative reviews. I did run plain water through the unit before making my first pot of coffee to clean it through and through. There was no bad plastic smell, no smell of any kind, and no bad taste of any kind from my first brew of coffee as others have mentioned. I don't grind my own coffee beans but I use Folgers pre-ground coffee, so i don't know anything about grinding your own beans and how this would be any different. i know some people are really picky about that kind of stuff, but I am not. I am more concerned about convenience. If you like stronger coffee, just add more grounds or less water, or both as there is no adjustment on this unit to make the coffee stronger or weaker. As I have only had it for 3 days, I don't know anything about the lifespan of this unit, but so far, I am very pleased and loving the little coffee maker. I will update the review if it doesn't last long.It is perfect for small kitchens, dorm rooms, etc., and is very light wright. It looks just like a 12-cup coffee maker, only smaller, without lots of bells and whistles- just a basic coffee maker. ( I've had 2 Keurigs in the past and neither one lasted more than a year- too expensive to keep replacing every year. I won't buy anymore of those) This little unit is perfect for me. Glad I found it and hope it last a long time.

This is just the right size for one person. I’ve used it for making green tea and it works great. The quality is good.

Cute little coffee maker. Nice to have one.
This coffee maker has been perfect for my needs! As someone with limited space, it’s the ideal size—compact and lightweight, yet reliable. I’ve tried using a French press before, but this coffee maker makes the process so much easier and quicker, delivering a great cup of coffee in minutes. I always use quality beans, and even though I’m no barista, the coffee turns out fantastic. The only minor downside is a little spillage when filling it to the brim, but I just pour that first cup over the sink. Overall, it’s an affordable, durable choice, and the black model is easy to maintain.

FAB simple coffee maker which could last up to and over 5 years!
This is a great coffee maker! I bought this one because my old one (over five years of use) stopped working properly because I put the basket in the dishwasher and lost a part, unfortunately. This is still a FAB coffee maker and for $36, what more do you want? I needed a simple coffee maker for my one to two cups a day before work; this fits that need to perfection!

So glad I hit the buy button!
For a long time I've searched for Mr. Coffee's 4 cup coffee maker but all I've found here and on eBay is one that's not used. That one is at a ridiculous price when you add in a highway-robbery price for delivery. What would show up in my searches on Amazon was this 5 cup version. I had resisted buying it for about a year, but finally ordered it a few nights ago -- then promptly cancelled the order because some reviews made me think I wouldn't like it. Fast-forward to last night shortly before midnight. I decided to give this maker a chance to prove it was worth buying, so I hit the buy button. It was here, waiting for me when I woke up today.I love it. The design differences between this model and the 4 cup one were things I thought I would hate, but I don't. Really, I have only one quibble. The filters don't fit nicely in the filter holder, but that doesn't affect how they perform. Over time I may be disappointed if the pot's lid gets coffee stains on it. Cleaning this 5 cup model is easier than the 4 cup one is. That's because my hand fits more easily in the pot for drying it, thanks to the bigger size. I also like the finish on this model. It's mostly a matte white which will go with the matte white toaster oven I'll be receiving tomorrow.I also like the on/off switch that is on both models. I use an Echo smart plug that I can turn on via my voice as soon as I wake up: "Alexa, turn on coffee." The switch is always in the on position but the plug is off until I tell Alexa to turn on the coffee. When the maker is on, I appreciate the fact there is not automatic shut off after a certain length of time, like there is with other coffee makers. When having two mugs of coffee, I often don't get around to drinking the second mug till an hour or more later. I want it to be hot when I'm ready for it. Reheating coffee in the microwave is not the same as having the pot on the heat. There's a scientific reason for this. Now about the coffee: it tastes great with both models. I think it takes the 5 cup model longer to make the coffee but it's really not an issue. I will never brew 5 cups. Most often, I will use the 2-cup setting with 3 scoops of coffee. I like it strong. Someone needs to let Mr. Coffee know they are lousy at measuring cup sizes. My mug (which looks bigger in the photo than it actually is) holds 11 ounces. The 2 cup setting delivers a little less than 11 ounces. I think Mr. Coffee uses the usual cup size other coffee makers do: just 6 ounces per cup (not the expected 8 ounces for those of us who use a regular measuring cup for our cooking needs). But the 2 cup setting gives me less than 12 ounces. It's closer to 10.5 ounces. I doubt I'll ever use more than the 4 cup setting which will give me two mugs of coffee. The pot is easier to pour from versus the 4 cup version. Getting the last little bit out of the 4 cup version is difficult, but super easy with the 5 cup version. It's obvious I love this 5 cup model. I hope Mr. Coffee won't stop making it in the future like they did with the 4 cup version. When I need a new coffee maker, I want this model to be here, ready and waiting for me to hit the buy button again.UPDATE: After using the coffee maker for a while I noticed the lid on the pot has a faint stain that I can't wash off. I expect it to get worse over time so I ordered the black version so I could use the black pot in my white coffee maker (see photo). I know it'll get stained too, but I won't be able to see it. Totally worth it. I'm adding two photos to show how it looks if you want to avoid the coffee stains. You can just use the black pot or you can adapt the white pot to accomplish the same thing. Just remove the just the white lid and snap the black lid into the white pot. Photos show what I mean, I hope. This white pot/black lid is what I'm happiest with.
