Pour couper une fourche, la lame fit dans la fente et ça coupe bien droit.

If you are only going to cut a carbon stem once, this may be overkill. However, if you will cut several, and want a tool that will last forever, and provides accurate cuts, this is it. This SG-8 version is specifically designed with the Park Tool carbon blade in mind. That blade does not have teeth per se. Instead, it uses a specific edge that resembles a thick crusting. This crusting cuts very cleanly though the carbon fiber and leaves no burs. The crusty edge is also thicker than the blade itself. Consequently, the spacer used to guide the blade is wider on the SG-8 version to accommodate that wider crusty edge. If you will use a standard 32-tooth hacksaw blade, you want the SG-6 version instead. The clamping mechanism works great. In effect, you don't need much pressure at all to hold the fork firmly in place. The metal lip at the bottom of the silver plate is used as the point where you clamp the unit in a vice. This makes for a very stable platform. In moments, you will have a clean and square cut. The only challenge I had was in seeing the pencil marks on the carbon fiber stem. I tried using a silver marker, but that too was very difficult to see accurately when the stem was clamped. Eventually, using a flashlight and sliding the stem in and out slowly, I zeroed in on the spot and was able to align it fairly accurately. That said, my cut was actually about .75-1 mm off. Fortunately, I marked my cut to leave 2mm beneath the head stem cap, so I was left with 1.25-1mm of space which is still sufficient. A better method, in hindsight, would have been to use masking tape at the cutting edge. That would have been much more visible. This is a quality tool that will outlive me, and does exactly what it is designed to do - provide very accurate, square cuts in tubing.

Superbly engineered. Very simple to use, and it results in a neat cut exactly where it should be.

Braucht man nicht oft, erfüllt aber seinen Zweck einwandfrei, habe damit einen Fahrradgabel/-schaft gekürzt.
