Very Readable... but
I found this book very readable, but not without errors. For example, it defines 'power' as the 'amount of work', whereas power is actually the RATE at which work is done. This is reflected by the fact that power and work are measured in different units. A better approach would have been to define energy or work BEFORE defining power... that would make it clearer, as understanding power requires prior knwledge of work.

Essential Beginners Book & Incredible value for money
I recently decided to try and learn something about electronics. For less than the price of a glossy monthly magazine here is a well written book that incredibly explains just about all the basics you need to know in just under 150 pages. Brief histories on originations and names for various measurements are also included which are not even featured in a 1000+ page book on the subject which I also bought. I would also recommend buying the Kindle version as well for £1.99 which is in colour, (nice for component colour codes etc. ) it allows you to zoom-in and has related links to you tube. 100% Recommended and for the price you just can’t go wrong,

Not a very comprehensive introduction...
I know this book was intended for absolute beginners, but it really doesn't give a very good coverage of "electronics". It uses examples of a number of simple DC circuits to explain topics such as resistance, capacitance, semiconductors (diodes, transistors), electric motors and photocells, but there is zero coverage of inductors, transformers, or any kind of AC circuitry such as simple audio amplifiers or oscillators. What it did explain, it explained well, but I don't feel the scope of coverage was comprehensive enough to call it "electronics" - just too much basic stuff missed out.

This book is recommended for beginners like me who want to develop a new set of skill in electronics. It has enough basic understanding of the basic components that go in an electronic circuit. It is written and compiled very well that it is fun to read. It also has small projects that you can build at home to grab a hold of whatever you've learnt from the book.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Perfect Book for True Beginners (and for Those Who Struggle with Learning Challenges) I’m almost finished reading this book, and I can honestly say it’s one of the best beginner-friendly resources I’ve come across. The title doesn’t exaggerate—this book really is designed for absolute beginners. In my case, I live with some learning difficulties, and I’ve often found other electronics books too dense, scattered, or overwhelming. Philip Dixon has written this one in a way that is clear, logical, and easy to follow. The book is very well organized from beginning to end, so you can simply start at page one and progress step by step without feeling lost or needing to jump around. What really stood out to me is how approachable the writing style is. Concepts are explained in plain language without dumbing them down, and the pacing makes it easy to absorb the material. I never felt rushed or left behind. Whether you are brand new to electronics or, like me, you need a resource that respects different learning styles and challenges, this book is an excellent choice. I highly recommend it to anyone who wants to build a solid foundation in electronics.
