Great little speakers!
Good sound, small footprint, no 60Hz humm when they're left on /w PC off. Since they're USB powered, they max out at 1-2 watts, so no power for bass. Given that, they put out a good volume of sound, though not as much as my Logitech Z305's.Though USB powered, the audio signal comes through the analog output, not through the USB. USB powered means no power cord, none of those clunky power transformers. I haven't seen any other speakers that are USB powered /w analog signal. Advantage of this is that it uses the PC's audio driver, etc., so support is universal, and you cut out the cheap-o drivers that cause problems so many times.

Tinny and limiting
Main issue here is that the sound quality is awful. Many built-in laptop or monitor speakers sound significantly better than these. Tinny, utterly without bass, and sometimes it even seems like certain frequencies just don't come through. Also, if you're using these on a desktop computer with only one audio jack (especially if it's on the back of your tower) then good luck using headphones ever again. These have no audio out, meaning if you want to plug in 1/8" inch headphones, you have to unplug these. And considering how bad the sound quality is, you'll want headphones for anything worth listening to.On the plus side, they look slick despite their cheap feel. Being able to configure them into a sound bar design or stereo speakers is very cool. And for the price I suppose one can't really complain about the sound quality too much. They're fine for people who don't really care about sound quality or who just need an external speaker for the rare times they're not using headphones. Think office environments or your mom's home computer. Otherwise don't bother.

Honest review: OK, but do not work as advertised in their title description.
These speakers are OK for the price and I would have rated them higher had they delivered on their value proposition. They are better than the ones I replaced, which had a frayed wire and kept going on and off, but be aware that they do not work as advertised or stated in the title: Digital Innovations AcoustiX USB Powered Speaker System – Magnetically Shielded Stereo Speakers with Sound Bar Configuration. 1) They are supposedly magnetically shielded so that they won't buzz, but if you have the volume above medium you will hear a white noise type sound coming out of them when there is no sound being played. This is not a hard thing to correct. I just turn down the volume dial when I'm doing quiet work and there is no need for sound, but I would expect no white noise at any volume level from a "magnetically shielded" speaker system. 2) They are supposed to be able to be used in a "Sound Bar Configuration" and they have magnets in the base which should allow them to stick together in the sound bar configuration. Anybody who is buying these speakers to use them in this configuration will be VERY disappointed because the magnets are not strong enough to prevent them from succumbing to gravity and sinking in the middle. The company should very easily have seen this wouldn't work during product testing and added another leg on both speakers to support the weight the magnets can't bear. See picture attached. This smells of deceptive advertising. Anybody who is buying them as a sound bar should look at another product option. Overall for my needs they work and the shortcomings are not enough for me to return which is what the company was probably counting on. Provide enough incentive to buy, keep manufacturing costs as low as possible, and provide enough function that most buyers will not return. 3 stars is all these merit for me but if there were half stars I would rate them 2 1/2.

They work great. I have them snapped together in front of ...
bought these to use for my small tv as the tv speaker wasn't enough. They work great. I have them snapped together in front of my tv like a sound bar. Not super powerful, but gets the job done and works as I intended. Now I can hear my tv and for a great price.

Great for listening while I'm on the computer
I really like these speakers. They're small, so they don't take a lot of space on my desk, but they have good sound. Naturally, being small, they're a little light on the bass, but my favorite music is smooth jazz, like Keiko Matsui (piano), and for that they're fine. I do have SRS Premium Sound Pro on my laptop, which no doubt helps. I get plenty of volume turned up just halfway or so and haven't had any problem with crackling or hum. I don't think you could get better speakers for the under-$20 price I paid.

Worse speakers ever!
I hate these speakers! They are not shielded like the description says as I can hear every move my mouse makes through them.Sound is AWFUL! Tinny with no bass whatsoever. Also they only separate about 3' apart from each other too so good luck trying to put them any distance to either side of your tv or computer monitors.Horrible purchase! Sent them back for a full refund.

Great sound for the price!
Very nice sound quality, and you can't beat the price! I was looking for a non-bluetooth speaker to attach to a Proscan TV. Proscan's internal speakers are terrible! You may as well be listening to an old fashioned transister radio; but this speaker made all of the difference in the world!!

Didn't like these much
Not very loud and had a lot of hiss when turned up. I returned them.
