Works great - most of the time.
I bought this camera for use doing home energy evaluations. Opened it up, it was charged and used it to look at the walls of my own home to see areas where the insulation could be better. A few days late I took it to the shop to show my co-workers and it wouldn't work. When you turned it on the screen showed weird patterns and no usable information. I cycled it on and off a couple of time with no better results. Left it sitting on my desk while we went to a job. When I came back tried it again and it worked perfectly. Hmmm. Got to love intermittent problems.

It’s smaller than it looks
Yes, it’s smaller than it looks, and doesn’t have a great app, but it is a great tool that works well.

Flir always comes through!
I recently purchased the Flir C3-X to replace my older model C2. While you do need to set up an online Flir account , it does make file transfer painless as long as you have Wifi you're good to go when on the road. If anything it comes with the USB cable included. View, edit, download your photos where ever, pay nothing extra. When using the online software Flir Ignite you do need to consent to roughly two requirements, pretty standard, nothing crazy as others described with the C5 series. Recommended warm-up times is roughly 5 minutes once you power it up but, this device is pretty fast and much faster than my older C2. Yes, you own your photos as well, read the fine print! I'm a home inspector and I do use my thermal cams often. Perfect size, priced right for a brand name thermal camera, picture quality is great for my use of the device. Touchscreen options has just what you need, can even edit photos right on the cam and add names, location to each photo. Product also came with a pouch, durable lanyard, USB cable, 3 month trial of Flir Thermal studio which is different from the Flir Ignite I mentioned above. This appears to be for those that need to do a lot more with the thermal images such as thermal reports on Flir templates. Received my order the next-day, well packaged, no damage to box or device. Being my second C series thermal device, I would recommend.

I dont recommend for HVAC professionals. Use temp gun for accurate measurements.
The product in question functions similarly to a thermal imaging camera; however, it possesses several limitations. Notably, it lacks a laser feature, which hinders the accurate measurement of specific temperature points. Additionally, its resolution is suboptimal compared to other devices with smaller screens, making it an inefficient tool for pinpointing duct leaks. The battery life is limited to approximately three hours of use, and the frame rate is considerably slow. On a positive note, the accompanying software is commendable, and the capability to capture standard images alongside thermal images is a beneficial feature. In summary, the value of this product does not justify its cost. I would appreciate the opportunity for an exchange, but as there is no such option available, I am left with a tool that does not meet the operational requirements essential for my work as an HVAC technician.

Works great after powering it up multiple times
Husband’s response: Only drawback is that I have to power it up multiple times ( up to 20 times!) to get it to work but after that it works fine all day whenever I need to turn it on. This happens most often when it’s been off for a few days +.

Não gostei para pesquisa de vazmento de água fria. Não me ajudou, o detetor de umidade que custa menos que 20% da Câmera foi mais efetivo para este caso. Agora, terei que vender para alguém que tenha interese em medições que tenha calor.

The biggest downside is the price versus features when compared to competitors. Construction quality is good with the entire body being rubberized. It rated for IP54, and the roughest condition I've subjected it to was dropping it accidentally into the bilge of my boat. For a few seconds the camera was submerged in oily water, and I rinsed it off in with soap and water. No issues at all. Using it in the rain is probably completely fine. It don't recommend dropping it (or any electrical device), even though it appears protected enough for shocks. The C3-X comes with a lanyard and a soft case. The soft case is excellent, as it uses the molle attachement system for tactical gear. The software and interface are snappy enough. FLIR technical support is very good, as the first thing my camera did when connected to wi-fi was auto update. I haven't had any interface issues (bluetooth, usb, or wi-fi). The online manual is a must-read, as not all of the functions are easily accessed through apparent menus. For example, to turn on the video light, you must swipe from the top of the screen. The C3-X is a good multi-purpose IR camera for general casual use and troubleshooting. Ideally suited for a general contractor, hobbyist, or homeowner doing a renovation/repair. I used mine to troubleshoot water leaks on my boat, home plumbing, and finding an electrical fault in my generator. Previously I had relied on a Fluke IR temperature gun, which lacked the fidelity required to troubleshoot complex scenarios. The biggest fault with C3-X is the inability to record video or stream it. Capturing video would be a necessary minimum I think for professionals that need to convey their findings of difficult to describe scenarios. Upgrading to the C5 would've solved this - but that was beyond my budget. FLIR is a recognized name, and you can't go wrong if you need to re-sell the unit. Off-brand units can be purchased for about 2/3 the cost but won't have the support or retained value in my opinion. On a jobsite, everybody has heard of FLIR. The C3-X provides the bare minimum for IR troubleshooting. If you can afford a C5 or better in the FLIR lineup I highly recommend you pursue those instead - especially if you're a professional. If you're looking for a general purpose camera, at a "reasonable" price, then the C3-X is ideal.
