Central Vacuum Inlet Valve, for Nutone Central Vacuum System Installation Parts, White Full Door Inlet Valve Cover - 2 Pack

This was a replacement for a vacuum outlet in my son’s house he and his wife recently bought. The original supplier had gone out of business, but this appeared to be an exact match and it was. Worked perfectly.

My old vacuum covers were somewhat yellowed and I didn't like the look of them. These new ones fit perfectly and provide a much smoother appearance. I replaced 4 of mine so far.

I liked that the replacements fit and worked well to replace the original, discolored outlets.

These plates fit perfectly with an M&S central vacuum system that was installed 20 years ago. Plastic turns yellow after 20 years, so I bought these to give the house a new fresh look. Just unscrew the old ones, remove the wires, attach the wires to the new ones, then screw in the new plates to the existing bracket in the wall. Works perfectly!

If this is a project you are undertaking as a DIY, be aware, the terminal screws are slightly shorter than my originals were. I decided to use my original screws to terminate the low-voltage wire as mine have (2) 20 gauge wires twisted together for each terminal. The terminal housing has tiny springs inside that make contact with the tiny lugs visible inside the vac tube. These springs and tiny lugs will fall out if you remove the wire set screw completely. Luckily, my phillips screw driver was magnetized and the spring came out with the screw. Just re-insert the spring into the barrel and re-install your terminal screw. As you can see in the pictures, the springs and brass terminals are wee, or very small. The brass terminal inside the vacuum tube connect port should move up and back down with light finger pressure once you are done. Oh, and doggie approved for any animal lovers.

I thought this would work for my nutone central vac but my outlet has a plug on top this doesn’t have, so I go t think I can use them? See attached image of my outlets. Not leaving a bad rating as I ordered wrong part.

Bigger securement screws make them sit more firmly against the old backing plate, tho I did need to snip off a couple of protrusions to make it sit tightly on the old backing. I like the slim clean face which closely matched the original which is sturdier than the old ones too.
