Excellent choice.
Very well made. Easy to use. Grinds the beans perfectly.

Works great and has a hidden feature
The hidden feature is the attachment thing for the crank is essentially a hex nut. If you get a 7 mm (if I remember right) hex adapter for your cordless drill and run the drill on slow speed, you can avoid the tedious manual cranking, even during a power outage.

A Quirky Workhorse
I got this because it came up again and again when I Googled "best manual coffee grinders." It replaced a cheap cylindrical metal grinder made in China, which broke after a month, so that's all I have to compare it to. The best thing about it is the wide hopper. It grinds more coffee at a time, and therefore it grinds fast -- 4 tablespoons of beans in 1-2 minutes, versus 4-5 minutes with my old grinder. It's easy to take apart and put together. It's fairly easy to clean, again because of the wide hopper, but you will need a bottle brush to get every nook and cranny. It may take practice to find the grind adjustment that suits your preference, but once you do, it's easy to set it again after you wash it. The drawback of the wide hopper is that the waist of the grinder is too big for the average female hand. It's easy to lose your grip on it. After dropping it once, I started holding it braced against my body, to keep a better grip on it, and over a kitchen counter, as well, so it wouldn't have far to fall. It has other drawbacks. Grinding coffee gives it a static charge. That didn't matter with my old metal grinder, but it makes the coffee stick to the glass receptacle of the Hario. I have to hit the receptacle against the counter or with a knife handle to get all the coffee out. The rubber skirt of the receptacle, intended to cushion the glass against breaking, tends to just fall off. And it has one major design flaw: Grinding loosens the nut that holds the handle on. I discovered this when the nut just flew off mid-grind. Now, after every 20-30 seconds of grinding, I stop to retighten the nut. Bottom line, I don't understand why it keeps getting on "10 best" lists. It has its flaws. However, once you get used to it, it's a sturdy, hard-working grinder that makes delicious coffee. Pro tip: My cell phone translation app translated the Japanese instructions, no problem.

you need to know what you're doing
it's a solid product and it does a good job, but definitely not recommended for a novice or someone who doesn't know their way around mechanical devices as it is a bit more nuanced than your typical hand grinder

Great product as expected
Works awesome! Got it to go with a pour over coffee setup i bought my wife for christmas. It is easy to set up for the proper grind, easy to clean, and looks very nice on out countertop. Grinding by hand is a new thing that will take a bit of getting used to, but it makes the process fun. Cant wait to bring it camping!

Looking for a QUALITY [manual] grinder..look no further!
If you're looking for a long lasting, well-built, and convenient grinder at a nice price...look no further. I've been rather pleased with mine. This has the ability for adjustment from fine espresso grind to course french press/cold brew grind. The hopper (grinder portion) unscrews, allowing you to screw on the lid for sealed storage. Nice feature.

Don’t waste your money on this!
At first I liked this grinder because there was a noticeably better taste to the coffee compared to an electric grinder. BUT that went away very quickly because of how long it took to get enough grounds for a pot of coffee. This device takes what seems like FOREVER to work. Do yourself a big favor and just buy an Orphan Espresso Lido manual coffee grinder instead of the Hario. Yeah yeah I realize it costs about 5 times as much but it is built of such high quality and is engineered so well that it works 50 times better! This Hario grinder does work BUT setting the size of the grind is a pain and the grind is very inconsistent especially when going for a larger press pot grind even with the extra grinding burr stabilization piece you can order for an extra 8 dollars. The two main drawbacks are the grind inconsistencies and it flat out takes way way too long to get a few tablespoons of coffee grounds. I realize the Hario doesn’t cost a lot but when you see how long it takes to work you will feel like even $10 would have been too much to pay. Like I said before buy an Orphan Espresso Lido. The Lido is EASILY 10 times faster and produces the most consistent grind of any grinder I have ever used both manual and electric.

As promised. Many thanks.

I love how simple this grinder is and how well it works. If you're not grinding too fine its outstanding. For espresso grind i find it takes a long time and the grinder heats up and squeaks like crazy but for coarser grind I actually enjoy grinding with this grinder.

It's a perfect hand grinder. It's consistent and easy to use. Gives a good fine grind. However it's good only for a cup or so because it takes a lot of effort and hence very tiring. Nevertheless it meets my need for a fresh brewed morning cup of coffee.
