Upgraded
The original was ok, but, the Xenon replacement is much brighter. It still focuses like the original, easy installation.

Brighter, hope it saves battery
We have a 3 D cell battery Maglite. This fit fine. Didn’t have any instructions to replace, but it was basically self-explanatory. Followed car headlight rule of not touching a xenon bulb with bare hands. Is definitely brighter than the original bulb. Couldn’t use the silver bulb collar that came with, the original one fit fine over this bulb though. Took off one star for lack of warning on packaging to not touch bulb.

Just as dim as the bulbs I was replacing
My 3 D cell Maglite came with 2 dim bulbs. I was surprised. This replacement bulb is equally dim. Fooled twice. Last Maglite investment I'll make. My Surefire is 1/4 the size and puts this to shame with just a single 123. Also, in my Maglite, this replacement is too long to use the threaded retainer ring, just pushed it in and it seems to stay in place on its own so far.

Post is too long, not much brighter than the original bulbs.
I’ve had my Maglite 3D cell for about 25 years. No question about their durability and longevity. My other bulb was fine but thought I’d upgrade to this Xenon bulb because I figured the brightness would be better and more white light than the original bulbs they came with. It’s not much brighter than the original bulbs. The biggest issue is the socket is not deep enough for this replacement conversion and it sticks out more into the reflector and I can’t focus the beam for focused point, only flood. Not sure why they made it longer. I’m my opinion it’s too much for what you get and what you lose. Really surprised Maglite did not realize this when they designed these. Kinda a bummed.

Great upgrade
This simple upgrade, changes your flashlight in a much brighter output unit. It an exceptional cost-effective conversion. Installation is a simple five-minute process. The nay other change should be going to rechargeable batteries. If you already own a MAG-LITE there no better way to improve to improve it.Make sure you order the bulb kit that matches the number f batteries in your unit. The Mag-Lite sight has a page on what bulb you need.

This should be less than 3$
These lightbulbs last maybe six hours and then have to be replaced again. They’re sealed with a plastic base. It should be solid glass. I would not recommend these and I will not be purchasing these anymore. There you go you got your way with LED lights, forcing it on everyone.
