This is the good stuff.
I’ve been using these for many years, they work well, are always reliable and consistent. I have found that the cheap imitations will sometimes fly apart in use, not something you want at 20,000 rpm. 3M has always been top notch.

Don't buy anything else
There's no substitute in roloc 2" discs. 3m runs this show. Dont try to cheap out. It's always waste of your money. These discs erode and shrink as you use them to expose new abrasive they also are flexible and if you trim back the rubber on your mandrel you can get these into corners to smooth welds nicely. On average these last around four times as long as others, and they never melt and leave residue on your work. 3M is on the right in the picture. Pretty much shows you what you need to know. That disc was used for nearly 20 minutes where the other 2 left (benchmark) used for about 60 seconds. I've used red and brown of these and they perform well. Brown does good material removal, red leaves a nice finish.

Cant beat 3M, work great and last long.
Used these for many years, decided to try Harbor Freight which was a mistake, those would last about a minute. So Back to the best 3M for the win.

Effective!
The clown who built/owned my house in the past painted the bricks around the garage. Different colors: yellows, blues. See -- nursery! I tried a palm sander and other things. It was this pad that got the job done, quickly. It kicked up a lot of dust, but that depends on the material. Protect your eyes and airways, probably your ears too. What I don't like is the microplastic residue, assuming the fibers on this are made of some variant of plastic.

3M 2 inch sanding disks
I am familiar with the product which is good, better than the cheap ones I have used before. My only complaint is that they should be shipped in another box/bag because by the time they arrived the flimsy package they came in looked like it was stepped on/run over. Fortunately none were missing/damaged.

Awesome
These little scotch-brite pads burn though rust, oil, and paint on sheet metal easily with a good die grinder (I am using a Makita). The pads are quick to replace on the roloc bits: just peel up and turn with the palm of your hand. They don't last too long though; I went though 3 on a transmission brace/mount. To me, they've been easier to work with in tight spots on parts (outside the car) than a grinder and wire wheel. I also get the impression that is was a bit faster a stripping paint than the wire wheel. Also, no wire shards hitting my face is an added bonus. Once the paint is stripped, it leaves a nice easy to prepare surface. Totally recommended for repainting/restoring rusty/ugly sheet metal on car parts. I've heard that they can deform sheet metal if kept in one place too long due to heat...but I haven't experienced that (yet). I'll always keep some around. They're awesome.
