I want a laptop for the portability. not a computer savvy person so what specs would a laptop need to have to run this scanner on large projects

We recommend that any laptop with Intel i7 or i9 CPU, Nvidia RTX video card and system memory 32GB or more (64GB or higher is recommended) has enough capacity to handle big projects with this scanner.

how easy is it to combine two large scans?, and what limits the size of single scan?

Usually you can scan as large as 10 feet size object. Yes you can combine two separated scans with the manual alignment function. It is easy to di it with any 3 common points. You only need to make sure you have enough common scanned area between your two separated scans, so you can use 3 common points to complete the combine.
