the definitive edition
Hot on the heels of the giorgio moroder produced New Dimensions reissue, the other Three Degrees album produced by moroder gets a major treatment. Not only is the full album included, but as bonus tracks, we get the single versions as well as all the 12" mixes and a b-side! this is pretty much a collectors dream and I'm glad to see many old moroder productions continuing to find their way to CD. The first three tracks are definitely the moroder disco sound, with "Set Me Free" being the winner with a classic moroder synth riff. The next three tracks are all ballads if you're into that, and then the album finished off with the campy hi-nrg disco number Bodycheck. the b-side Hot Summer Night is also a dance track that should have sooner been on the original album than THREE ballads in a row. But none of that matters now since all the tracks are on one CD. Track list:1. jump the gun (6:04)2. red light (5:42)3. set me free (4:34)4. starlight (4:43)5. my simple heart (4:28)6. without you (4:04)7. bodycheck (3:35)8. hot summer night (b-side) 4:42)9. jump the gun (single) (3:56)10. my simple heart (3:42)11. without you (3:33)12. starlight (3:24)13. jump the gun (12") (8:05)14. my simple heart (12") (5:12)15. bodycheck (12") (4:03)16. set me free (12") (7:19)

Three Degrees..."3D (Three D)"...1980 & 2011 Import & Extended
Just like 1978's "New Dimension" album by Three Degrees, I really DON'T have to listen to THIS album first, in order to post my review on Amazon. And the reason being is that I remember THIS album, so well, after I first bought this record in June 1983. On July 12, 2013, I then decided to order this album in CD format w/includes EXTRA versions. And plus, I wanted to hear what SONG #8 "Hot Summer Night" would sound like. I would like to offer my review of this FANTASTIC album, as follows:1. "Jump The Gun"...This opening song is powerful w/ a ROCK feel to it. It was mentioned that this song was a hit single, but I DIDN'T remember this, from the past, as I did a few of the others. It has a good meaning & it's a very good song.2. "Red Light"...Now, this song I DID remember, from the past. I have always loved & enjoyed this cut, very much. It does contain a great dance & rock beat to it. This is a PERFECT song, in my opinion.3. "Set Me Free"...Here is another song, which I definitely remembered, from the past. It's just another of those fantastic dance beat songs, from 1980.4. "Starlight"...This song is more of a ballad, which I remembered, somewhat. It's very good.5. "My Simple Heart"...This is also a GORGEOUS ballad, which I remember from the December 1979 & the Early 1980 time frame. Since it contains the pretty CHIMES & BELLS, it seemed SO appropriate to have charted during THAT Christmas Season of '79. I love this song, very much, I guess, I always will.6. "Without You"...Another BEAUTIFUL ballad w/ very TOUCHING words. I've always enjoyed this tune, a lot. This is a song that ABBA could perform, very well. I'm extremely FOND of this song.7. "Bodycheck"...More of the danceable music & it's pretty good.BONUS TRACKS8. "Hot Summer Night"...This song is good & it's a lot of fun. I have also heard this cut, before. It has a great dance beat. It was the FLIP SIDE to "My Simple Heart" on the 45 r.p.m.!!!9. "Jump The Gun"...(Single version)10. "My Simple Heart"...(Single Version)11. "Without You"...(Single Version)12. "Starlight"...(Single Version)13. "Jump The Gun"...(12" Long Version)14. "My Simple Heart"...(12" Long Version)15. "Bodycheck"...(12" Long Version)16. "Set Me Free"...(12" Long Version)Today, July 17, 2013, MAY be one of the HOTTEST days, so far, THIS summer. And the 8th track "HOT SUMMER NIGHT" really FITS this occasion of just how hot it really is, where I live & probably everywhere else, too. This 1980 album CD is VERY VERY Good & it will always be HIGHLY recommended, by me.

Dance magic beautifully remastered
Add THE THREE DEGREES with Giorgio Moroder and what do you get? Music magic. 3D is a tour de force for the talented ladies. The album opens with the amazing dance track JUMP THE GUN and then moves onto the spellbinding RED LIGHT. STARLIGHT is an excellent smooth groove soul dance track that slows things down a little as the set moves into the ballads MY SIMPLE HEART and WITHOUT YOU. The set then closes with the standout BODY CHECK.Uptempo dance tracks are the name of the game here and the set flows effortlessly from beginning to end. And the ballads also have a purpose and fit in perfectly. BBR does their magic here and provides gorgeous remastering and extensive liner notes. But the true gift is the amazing 9 bonus tracks. There is the added track HOT SUMMER NIGHT and then single versions and 12" versions of most of the albums tracks. The album is presented in a glorious package on this awesome cd. BBR does amazing work with their releases and this cd shows THE THREE DEGREES in their prime. Highly recommend this superb cd.

3-d by The Three Degrees. FANTASTIC!
I used to have this on vinyl, I love The Three Degrees. This album is not available on Amazon Music or on iTunes, so I was thrilled to find it on CD (even if it came all the way from Europe).

DiscoFabulous
This album is great because it not only has the edits but also the 12"versions of all their Dance Hits! No "When Will I See You Again" here, that's on another one! Simply outstanding!

Every song is a wonderful memory
This album was such a huge gay club hit and brings back so many memories of my youth. Giorgio worked his magic on this album and is evident on every track. You could not go into any gay club when this was out and not hear it every night for months. The ballad "Without You" is one of my all-time favorites. Wish there had been a longer, more pumped up version of it. Such a wonderful melody. Any fan of Donna Summer will relish this CD. Highly recommended."New Dimensions" is equally as good. Great album, full of energy and dancing vibe and ...
Great album, full of energy and dancing vibe and typical of the late Disco period with the hit "My Simple Heart" which appears in various editions and cuts on the album. Certainly catchy.

Fantastic Album
I bought this album one vinyl when it was first released, and still have it, and still play it too! But the CD is excellent and has been remastered very well. This was the second album released by The Three Degrees on the Ariola label, the first one being "New Dimensions" from 1979 , that too being produced by Giorgio Moroder. An excellent album thoroughly recommended, the girls at their best!,

Wonderful disco album, amazing reissue!
I recently discovered The Three Degrees and I'm so glad I stumbled over this reissue from Big Break Records. "3D" is an amazing disco album produced by Giorgio Moroder and Harold Faltermeyer. The sound quality of the reissue is perfect. I'm also very glad they included both 7" and 12" versions of the singles as bonus tracks. My favourite tracks on the album are "Set Me Free", "Jump The Gun", "Red Light" and "My Simple Heart". This is a must for every fan of disco music from the late 70's and early 80's. Keep up the good work, Big Break Records!
