NKJV Aquila Wide Margin Reference Bible, Black Calf Split Leather, Red-letter Text, NK744:XRM Review: Beautiful, Quality Bible Gift - Initially bought as a gift for me, bought another as a gift when mine was admired. Recipient to this day really loves using this Bible and appreciates the wide margins. Also easy to markup with notes using archival quality pens. Font size is small (and growing smaller!) but a magnifying bookmark is sufficient to continue enjoying this Bible for years to come. Lovely black leather, too. Review: Great Bible. I'm a seminary student and this Cambridge ... - Great Bible. I'm a seminary student and this Cambridge Wide Margin in Calf Split is my personal work horse alongside the Cambridge Pitt Minon which uses the exact same textblock but obviously shrunken down. I've made my way through four or five books of the Bible and several accompanying commentaries for each one, jotting in notes and my own personal reflection and commentary in the margins, which are a very nice size for writing. I write my notes with a 0.5 mechanical pencil. I have taught out of this Bible a couple of times. The Calf-split leather is very stiff, which for the application of writing in the margins and teaching out of, I personally prefer over the floppy goatskin cover. Cambridge makes quality Bibles. This isn't a $300 RL Allan or a $200 Schuyler, but it isn't too far behind.

Classy and High Quality
I have an old Cambridge that I love, this one was a gift for my Wife. It has the same quality that I have always appreciated. The leather is high quality, pages are crisp. The main complaint in the reviews seems to be the text bleed through - but I can tell you this - after years of using mine, I had to grab it and look at it to see ‘Oh yeah, I guess it does a little’ … so clearly you can get used to it fast, and it’s not a big deal. It hasn’t bugged me in over 10 years, and I don’t recall it being a problem when I first got it. This new Cambridge is the same quality, and my Wife hasn’t complained about the pages at all. I would recommend this to anyone that wants a quality Bible that lasts.

Beautiful wide margin NKJV Bible
I LOVE this Bible! I bought this Bible three years ago from Amazon who offers a great Price and love it more every year! I love having a wonderful concordance in the back plus extra pages for notes or lists. I am keeping a list of the names of God/Jesus when I find them.

NKJV Wide-Margin Reference black Claf Split
The print needs to be a little darker as this would make it easier to see, but if one has young eyes I am sure it does not matter. I bought it for my husband and it is a little small print for him, but if the print was darker he could see it better. We like that the Bible is quality material and love the wide margin.

Excellent Resource for Study and Preaching!
The cross references are actually useful! They explore biblical themes in a coherent manner rather than focusing on details that add little to understanding the passage. The margins are sufficient to allow me to put my short sermon notes right in the Bible so that it's all I need in the pulpit with me. The journal pages are great for when I'm able to hear another pastor preach, and you can even index your notes! This is a great resource!

Quality, quality and quality
This is a well made bible that will last a life time. Binding, cover, paper and margin size are excellent. Reference verses and concordance are very well done and high in number. No bleed throught from my hand written notes. Quality is top shelf! I only would change 2 style issues. My eyes wish the font was slightly larger but the quality and clearity of the print offset the font size. Paragraph styling makes it slight more difficult to find a single verse rather than verse by verse format. But I am quickly adapting, I only wish I had purchased this bible sooner!

ESV Clarion Reference Edition Black Calf Split Leather ES483:X My reason for purchasing this edition of the English Standard Version of the Bible is that it is one of only a very few single-column editions. It has long irked me that the poetic books in particular have lost their proper layout thanks to an insistence on two-column printing by most publishers. The ESV is my preferred modern translation: having tried most of the others now, I keep coming back to it. I bought this particular binding after viewing various online video reviews, coming to the conclusion that the extra cost of the two other ones was too great a differential. It is the same binding as my BCP/KJV Heritage Edition – another deciding factor. The printing is generally excellent and clear. Others have commented on show-through from the reverse of the page and so on, but frankly, one will get that with any book printed on 'Bible paper', and this is 25gsm. The pages are carefully line-matched to minimise this. There has also been mention made of the edges of the pages curling. Mine did do this a little the first time I used it, but not since – I cured the problem by turning the page over and smoothing it. What it does do well is stay open even at the extremes of Genesis and Revelation despite being very new. There are plentiful cross-references, as the description implies and a concordance and maps (with index) at the back. There are really only three improvements I can think of: more ribbon markers (two simply isn't enough), inclusion (or at least the option) of the Apocrypha, and Anglicised text (if Collins and OUP can manage it, why not Cambridge?).

This is an excellent Bible by Cambridge! There is a lot of talk about the elegance of goatskin Bibles and and smoothness of calfskin, but if you want a thick leather Bible that can "grind", by which I mean stand up to rugged use, that feels sturdy in your hand, and that is built like a rock, then calf split is the way to go. It costs the least but seems to do the most...I rest my case!

Nice handy sized item. Big print, with well placed cross references. Was not cheap but due to the quality, it should prove cost effective in the long run. If you are considering purchasing this ESV, google 'Clarion Reference' first, especially images. This was a great help in choosing this item.
