Very good buy.
I read a few reviews, checked the wattage rating that was needed for my appliance which I bought from India(an automatic electric pressure cooker, Preethi Brand). This this works well, does not heat up or hum. However it is quite heavy, so , I would suggest leaving it in a spot which would work for all other appliances that would need use of this transformer. Well build and works great.

All as expected....
Converter works fine, as expected. It's quiet ( well, I use it to drive a pair of active speakers so there's no chance of me hearing it even if it were noisy), and as others have commented, it did smell a bit of new plastics or something. Anyway, that smell has pretty much gone after a few days of running the unit. All in all, the unit is as expected and I have no regret/problem with it. Oh and it was very well packaged so it's unlikely together damaged in transit. Shipping time was very good at 2 days from when I ordered.

Perfect for our EU coffee maker
We got a Nespresso coffee maker from some relatives in Italy who unfortunately didn't realize the difference in voltage. This voltage transformer has worked perfectly since. I would recommend you look for the power rating of the appliance you'd like to use it with and get one that is rated at least at 120%. The construction inside and out is very solid and it appears it is built to last.

Very poorly designed, nice but uninformed tech support
I purchased 3 of these transformers for use in Abu Dhabi which is on the British 240v system (also purchased a 1000w and 3 100w models). Besides being incompatible, they are poorly engineering and their tech support made unbelievably bad recommendations that could have killed me. Issue 1: these transformers are not meant for the British system. US and British systems have their hot and neutral leads reversed, so as soon as I would plug this in using a 3 prong US->British adapter it would trip the GFI in my home. There is no mention in their product description that says they should not be used on the British power system. Issue 2: tech support recommended I use the 2-prong European style adapter that was included with the unit. I told them this was shocking me, tech support (in writing and over the phone) told me to flip it upside down to alleviate the shock. This did keep the unit from shocking me; however, it was UNGROUNDED. This is an extremely dangerous way to run this equipment, and had there been a catastrophic equipment failure or lightning strike it would have killed anybody who touched the transformer or anything attached to it. Issue 3: I had an electrician rewire the plug for the British style outlets with the correct polarity. I could plug the unit in safely, and it would run; however, the instant I would plug a power strip into the unit it would trip my home's GFI. This is because there was continuity between the neutral and hot leads of the transformer's outlet. I purchased a total of 7 Power Bright transformers, and every single one exhibits the same fault. This is either a design flaw, or an imbedded manufacturing defect. Regardless, this unit is JUNK. The real kicker is my discussion with the company took over 2 weeks, and during this time my RMA time frame with Amazon expired. The company refuses to take them back so I'm stuck with 7 transformers that either don't work and short out my home's electric, or could kill me, my wife, and children. You would think they'd be relieved to have these pieces of junk back without a wrongful death lawsuit, but they're more concerned about saving $500. If I could give this negative stars I would -- dangerous and doesn't work, what more could you ask for?

Be aware of earthing issues
I purchased this to use along with my USA bought LED TV back home in India where the voltage level is 240. Pros: Has multiple input selections, and 2 output levels ( 220 and 110), so this is a very generic converter USB charging works RMS voltage (as measured by a multimeter) is pretty close to what it should be. Cons: There is a big banging sound when the unit is energized, guess its normal with any transformer based converters Somewhere the earthing is not correct. if you put a tester into the earth, it glows. This shows that somewhere there is current leakage. I checked the ground to output phase voltage, that is zero whereas my mains ground to phase voltage is nearly equal to the neutral to phase voltage. if you connect your sensitive electronics items like LED TV or home theater receiver with improper earthing, it will be damaged very soon. I bought 3 pieces of this type with different wattages, and all of these have the same problem. so I believe this is not a individual unit problem. Verdict: if you are buying this for appliances like mixer grinder or heater, you can still use it, but not for sensitive and costly electronics. On a side note, I bought 1 powerbright and 2 goldsource units, but they look very similar in construction/user manuals/packaging etc. I guess its the same unit but branded differently.

horrible smell!
The product itself works fine but there is a consequence to its use. When we took this product out of the package for the first time, its smelled so horrible (chemicals)that we kept it in the garage for two months to "air out". The smell reminded me of the the new building construction in China or formaldehyde. It was very very strong and I was nervous to have this in my home with two small children. We then had to leave it on in a separate room with the door closed and window open so that the smell could burn off. For months I could only use it for short periods of time before it would stink up the whole kitchen and I would have to open up a window. Now it only faintly smells when I leave it on for long periods of time (a few hours). The point being is that you can probably find this same product else where without the toxic trouble. I had a friend who had the same product from a different seller and did not have this problem. Save your health and get it from someone else.
