Miyasaka Brewery Co., Ltd. was founded in 1662. It all began with Ihei Arimasa Miyasaka, the 12th head of the Miyasaka family, who started a brewery at the city of Kamisuwa, Nagano, Japan. For the next 300 years, Miyasaka spent tremendous amounts of time to create a perfect sake “Masumi,” which today is highly regarded for its aroma, body, and rich taste. One of the secrets of this popularity lies in the company’s successful development of a special high-quality yeast. In 1916, the company put its experience of making Masumi to the production of Miso, featuring the Miko-chan trademark. In 1968, the latest technology concepts were introduced and successfully applied to the development of freeze-dried products. By considering what we eat from a variety of different perspectives, the company has been able to develop a popular range of new products. Our goal is to introduce this traditional and healthy Japanese food worldwide, in the most casual and convenient way.

Very good miso... with no English instructions.
First of all: if you're looking for a original and strong taste, then this is not the product you're looking for. However, if you're conscious of your taste, and you're confident about your cooking skills, then this is the instant Miso soup for you.Personally, I like lighter tastes, and the reduced sodium option seems like the correct choice. I also bought a box of Miso paste just in case it's too light, I can add a spoonful of miso paste and it'll taste just right. BTW the miso paste usually lasts a long time, so it's totally worth it.This product has no instructions in English, the whole thing is Japanese, with a English ingredients/nutrients sticker on it for legal reasons. I learned a little bit of Hiragana, and I thought people might want to know which is which:(汁 means soup)わかめ: Seaweed, 10 servings;とうふ: Tofu, 5 servings;長ねぎ: Green Onion as stated in the description, or scallions, 10 servings;油あげ: Fried Bean Curd as stated in the description, or fried tofu, 5 servings. There is also a bunch of smaller packages at the bottom of the bag, that has みそ written on them. Those contain the miso.(This is one of the times I'm like "thank god I learned Japanese")You would choose which flavor you want, put the contents of the packet in a bowl, and put a miso packet in that bowl as well. Add hot water and voila. As for taste, well it's slightly diluted miso soup. And it's kinda impossible to mess up miso soup... like it's literally miso and water. Also, the miso is a paste, not powder. I have no scientific proof for this, but concerning that products get oxygenated (which is usually bad) when getting turned into powder form, I personally trust this more than the powdered products.

Best value and taste!
Sure it's all in Japanese, but that makes it feel just that much more authentic to me! The taste was wonderful and it's super easy to make, not to mention the best deal on here for the quantity included. Just add a cup of boiling water with the paste and a seasoning packet and it's ready to enjoy!

There are no directions in English. so read this to get good soup
There are no directions in English. You get 30 packs with different dried spinach or onions or whatever When you open it into a bowl it will look like nothing is there. Then there are also 30 packets (smaller packets) that has the soup base paste. You add that to the dried stuff. I used 10 oz of water as I used the hot water from my Kuerig coffeemaker.Using 10 oz (a coffee cup) soup was too weak I had to double up the base and dried do dads and it was fine. So for me it is actually going to be 15 servings. But there are no calories and it is easy. Wait a min as these little dots will turn into pieces of seaweed like a magic sponge.Enjoy

Good enough for me.
I'm afraid I'm a little addicted to instant miso. I used to make my own konbu broth to mix miso paste into, and that was better, but for lazier me nowadays, lots of fun to mix an instant packet with some miso paste, adds to the depth with no added labor. To prepare them entirely by themselves though without adding some miso paste of one's own, it's kind of not enough, a small teacups worth is all.

Overall good VALUE miso soup
This is an overall good VALUE miso soup.Taste-wise, it is satisfactory. People who love it salty may not like this since it's reduced-salt.As of 2/13/2016, this miso soup comes to around $0.43 per serving from Amazon.Freeze-dried soup from Amano is around $1.70 per serving from Amazon. So, if you want the de facto standard for instant miso soup, you have to pay 4x compared to this one.The pro for the Amano is that it has more variety.

It's still a great deal and my taste buds have adjusted a bit
When I first had these, they were a bit bland, but it could be the low sodium? It's only slightly lower than the Nagatanien Instant Low Sodium Miso Soup Sampler. It's still a great deal and my taste buds have adjusted a bit.

Carcinogenic as per package warning
While the product tastes good and as is described, when it arrived at my home I noticed that it, according to California law, contained substances that "are chemicals known to cause cancer, birth defects, and other reproductive harm."Good lord.

Very Tasty, Good Variety
A LOT cheaper to buy it this way than it was from the local Asian grocer... Very excellent variety and value, very tasty. Very tweakable - add some lemongrass, a little onion, some dried/fresh mushroom.... Almost endless possibilities!
