This book explains that a low-fat diet and aerobic exercise with strength training is what increases muscle and decreases fat. It is impossible to lose fat if you go on a strict diet or if you fast because you lose mostly water and muscle. This book also explains that sometimes our fat percentage is higher, not because we have more fat but because of aging can mean less lean. This is especially true for women. If you exercise aerobically, do strength training and watch your fat to 30% or less in your diet, you will lose fat and increase fitness according to the expert author.

Starts out well..gets pretty boring..but I guess if you want to run laps or jog 20 miles a day it would help you.! Not what I was looking for..

Covert Bailey speaks our language in his book. He also speaks bottom line. If you eat fat, you will be fat. I bought this book a while ago and felt I needed a push back to reality after reading all the other books (low carbs/high protein, blood type etc.) that just aren't for me. I gained weight. Its not going to happen over night with some crazy diet. We have to exercise for the rest of our lives. If you are looking for an easy way out, this isn't the book for you. But, if you are looking for the truth about how we as women are going to stay healthy and in shape, then I highly recommend you read this book. Get a buddy and start moving. I decided after turning 40 that now my happy hour hang out is at the gym!

All diet myths shattered.
After reading this book, I know why all those diets I've tried failed. I was so happy to finally find someone who understands the special dietary needs of women and who could thoroughly explain away the diet myths out there. It is one of the most helpful books I've read in years.
