Too hard to apply
I bought this for a recent trip to Maui where I wanted to make sure I got a 'reef-safe' sunscreen without PABA. All I could get was the SPF 30 which worked remarkably well in the strong sunlight (a friend who accompanied me had a UV monitor and the UV levels averaged around 7 during our trip), I was careful to also seek shade when possible and cover up with clothing when I figured I'd gotten enough exposure and I never got burned. The paste version of this product was very difficult to apply however. It was extremely hard to squeeze out of the tube, especially once my hands were greasy with the first application and it took about 4 squeezes/applications to adequately cover each leg and each arm. It was hard to rub in though it did disappear into the skin without leaving the skin white (the active ingredient was primarily zinc oxide) and I worried if I was getting even coverage - in some cases, I found I'd missed spots. It was also sort of waxy and hard to wash the residue from the palms of my hands after application, it took a lot of soap and repeated scrubbing and even then, my hands felt a bit greasy. This is a good thing if you are going into the water, I was pretty sure it would not wash off readily leaving me unprotected. The same company makes a pump spray version of the product that worked MUCH better and I would highly recommend it. This paste version was so hard to use that I tossed the remaining tube when I left Maui, there was a little left in it still but it was going to be near impossible to extract what was left from the tube anyway.

Not a fan
I purchased this item to use while running. First the consistence is somewhere between a paste and playdough to the point it is even difficult to get out of the tube. Once out of the tube application isn't much easier. It is hard to get it even because it kind of chunks up while rubbing it in.Three thing I found that help1) mix it with a bit of moisturizer ( I use SPF moisturizer as not to dilute the SPF) in your hands before apply2) warm it up a bit. I left my gym bag in my car one hot day and when I went to get ready for my run it was a little easier to apply, even though I know that is not good for the product.3) if you apply it and then left it sit for a minute and come back to rub it in the warm of your skin helps make it a bit easier to rub in.On the plus side, once applied it worked great...no problems with sweating it out or it getting in my eyes.I'll finish the tube but I won't purchase again

LUMPY
The product may work well for a sun block and does not seem to wash offwhen swimming or sweating, very little if any eye irritation. It's a waxy substance.I have to clear the dispenser opening after removing the coverwhich includes a second nozel opening every time I use the sunscreen, which is every day.the opening on the tube is clogged every day and needs to be cleared with a toothpic.the sunblock contains hard lumps which are too hard to rub on to the skin, andit is necessary to pick them off the face and arms.Perhaps my product is old, and coagulated as a result.

Searching for the Best Sunscreen
We ordered this sunscreen after reading the Consumer Reports review which rated this product as one of the few that are very good at blocking UVA. It was almost impossible to squeeze out the product from the bottles and when it did come out it was extremely clumpy and did not spread easily. My husband contacted the manufacturer and received a reply that they had an issue with one of the batches. So they sent us two bottles to replace the ones we had received, except they sent us the kid's version. The new bottles were better but still had small clumps that were very difficult to spread out. It took a lot rubbing to get it to look decent (i.e. not all white and clumpy sitting on top of skin.) We will continue our search and try the next two items on the Consumer Report list... Banana Boat Sport Performance Active Dry Protection Spray and Coppertone Sport High Performance Ultra Sweatproof.

Terrible sunscreen
I was really excited when this sunscreen arrived, I had been searching for one with the supposedly safer zinc oxide. First off the bottle is poorly designed, it becomes very hard to squeeze the sunscreen out. I had to unscrew the cap and widen the hole with a tool! Then applying it is not fun at all, it doesn't spread easily and has a weird texture. Lastly, this is a terrible sunscreen for workouts. It basically blocks your pores so your skin can't breathe properly. As soon as you start to exercise, every place you've applied the sunscreen will start dripping with sweat and then your skin will look milky white. This happens even before you begin to exercise rigorously. I definitely do NOT recommend this sunscreen.

Works well, but messy
The product works as it says it will. I didn't get a sunburn. However, the sunscreen is hard to squeeze out and as a consequence the plastic developed a split. The upside was it was easier to get out of the container. By messy I mean that the sunscreen is very thick and had little cottage-cheese like clumps in it that you really had to rub into your skin to make them disappear.

Good but need to re-apply a lot (every hour or 2) to really benefit
Like the subject says "Good but need to re-apply a lot (every hour or 2) to really benefit" and keep in mind I say this after I got burned, but not because of the lotion but rather my own stupidity I forgetting that I have thin hair that doesn't really protect my scalp from the sun, but I digress (that was a lot of butts :) ) Good stuff didn't make my eyes sting like some. This is definitely an improvement though for the cruelty free sunscreen products (Disclaimer: I have only been vegan for 3 years and only tried 1 sunscreen product per year in that time)I hope my ramblings help you make your decision.

Not the best
This product was a bit gritty/lumpy - not sure if this was old stock we recieved, but it was quite tricky to get the cream properly rubbed into the skin without white lumps. Otherwise worked great for sun protection
