Are they dishwasher safe?

No they’re not, barely safe under tap water. No good.

Is it made out of plastic or glass?

They are made of plastic. Double-layered with some type of liquid or jell in area between the layers. There is rubber/plastic band around the middle to allow for comfortable holding. Everyone that has used them seems to like the way glasses keep wine cooler for a long time. We keep them in freezer for quick use.

Do they have a very thick top rim? Or is more like a good wine glass?

Good for nothing. Mine leaked, and the other one cracked. And it’s too much work in and out of the freezer for and it hardly cooks. . It’s Good for the trash once they arrive.
