York NordicUltralight Folding Walking Poles - Travel Ready - with Rubber Feet, Baskets, and Bag

Saw an article in AARP magazine about the benefits of Nordic Walking and thought I'd give them a try. I ordered the offered shorter poles for people 5'4' and under, but I was unable to figure out how to adjust them appropriately for my 4'11" height. I was disappointed because I had really wanted to give Nordic Walking a try. As an older woman who needs to lose 20 pounds, I wanted something that would burn calories but not be so vigorous that I would have to give up quickly from pain or exhaustion. I have never written to a company before, but because I was convinced this exercise would be something I could comfortably do and still lose weight, I took a gamble and wrote to Lauren, the owner of the company. I sent her a picture of the poles in what I thought was the lowest position, asking if I had adjusted them correctly. She put me in touch with Matthew, the Director of Customer Service. Apparently the update of the Nordic Walking poles had a longer lower portion, preventing them from lowering enough for someone my height. He stated he would send me the lower section of the poles that were from the previous edition of Nordic Walking poles, and would include a prepaid mailer to send the too-long pole sections back. The lower sections came quickly and were easily installed.I love these things! It took me a few days to be able to coordinate the walking and poles in the Nordic style of walking, but now that I've got it down, I'm really enjoying the experience. I can feel the work out in my arms as I push off with the poles, and my heart rate has definitely increased with the addition of the poles to my normal 5-mile walk. I'm anxiously waiting for concrete evidence of my efforts, but I have been using them for less than a week. In the meantime, I'll just enjoying walking with them and getting more fit.Just as an aside, both Lauren and Matthew were highly encouraging as far as my starting on this walking adventure/exercise regime. It was a very nice and personal touch to their service.If you're thinking about buying these poles, I'd say go for it. They're easy to adjust and use, they're sturdy, fold easily for convenience, and are very reasonably priced. The company is great to work with if you need to get in touch with them. I'm very glad I bought these particular poles!

Tried 6 different sets of poles. Excellent collapse folding mechanisms, hand grip and wrist slings brilliant and extremely functional and comfortable. Using for walking around neighborhood and traveling abroad. I need for balance and they have been extremely helpful in preventing balance loss .

These are pretty good. Lightweight. Nordic style grips, which is important for me. They don't seem quite as stable, and wobble just a bit at the joints where they fold. I think they will do the job.

After some internet research, I decided to up my 10,000 steps a day to include Nordic walking poles and decided on the folding poles from York. I’m really enjoying them. Although I don’t fold them every day, I like the idea that I can easily take them with me wherever I go. I’m 5’6” and the short poles fit very well with enough room for adjustment. The poles encourage better posture and longer stride length. Adding the arm movement very noticeably increases intensity and and feels great. I can also add to the chorus of praise for York, and Lauren’s, custom service. I had a very small issue that was instantly and professionally resolved. I’ve been walking about five miles a day for the week I’ve had them, with no noticeable wear to the rubber feet. I think they will last a good long time. I love my poles and look forward to many years of use.

First, I received two right hand poles (the gloves are hand specific). Sent one back. They replaced it. Then, after trying for months to make these work right, I gave up. The left pole, the one they replaced, has a faulty section at the end joint. It will not stay tightened. I’ve tried everything, repeatedlybut about every hundred feet or so, I look down and the foot on that pole is spun around and the whole lower section is unscrewed. The pole doesn’t work right if the feet on them aren’t tight. Today, I was so annoyed with having to stop and retighten, that I threw them in the trash can. Should have returned them when I still could. Tomorrow is trash pick up day, good riddance. Spend a little more and get better poles. That’s what I am going to do.

I orderered these packable poles specifically for a hiking trip that required air travel. They were great for taking along in my carry-on bag, as they fold up very well. Unfortunately, the poles just were not durable enough to withstand the rigors of our hiking activity. They lasted about half-way through a 2-week trip during which we enjoyed several day hikes in varied conditions. A lot of our hiking involved downhill slopes with rocks and tree roots, and it was just too much for these poles to handle. One of my poles broke at the joint and was not reparable, so I was down to a single pole for the last half of our vacation. I would not recommend these poles if your hikes might be of a more challenging variety.

Being in the 70's, I'm finding that (being an orthopedic train wreck -bad knees, ankles, back) keeping stable in the upright position is important. Tried a rough, short hike up to Zapata Falls in Colorado and found that I was more confident using my walking stick and one of my husband trekking poles. Found the York Nordics and decided to give them a try. I have used them about 6 times so far and despite their weight they are strong and like their ability to collapse to a small size. There is some vibration and maybe wish the rubber tips would absorb more but it's not an issue. I don't think I'd be confident doing short hikes/walks without them as they help conquer the fear of falling. So far so good and I'd recommend this product to others.

Estoy muy contenta usando estos bastones para realizar la caminata nórdica. Son firmes. Su diseño es bonito y muy práctico para ajustarlos al tamaño deseado. Los recomiendo.

Los recibí antes de la fecha prometida, en perfectas condiciones. Los he usado unas 4 veces, y me han funcionado satisfactoriamente. Se ven de buena calidad, son fáciles de armar y desarmar. Desarmados ocupan poco espacio. Cupieron fácilmente en el locker del club. Son ligeros, y desarmados, se transportan sin problema dentro de la bolsita que viene con los bastones. Me están sirviendo para recuperar la condición física que me hace falta. Satisfacen lo señalado en la hoja de descripción en el anuncio de Amazon. Los puedo recomendar, satisfacieron mis necesidades.

The walking poles arrived on time, are lightweight, easy to adjust and are packed in my suitcase ready for their first holiday. Very nice product. Can’t wait to use them on the hiking trails. Update.......the poles are perfect. I have used them every day for walking and hiking and have received compliments and questions about them. Highly recommended.

Excellent delivery time....came way before "date of arrival" Very happy with these poles. Sturdy yet light. Will fit into back pack or large hand bag.I needed shorter length.....so these are perfect. Comes with good directions , web site info and info on how to walk properly with them.

Good quality, but extremely uncomfortable for Nordic walking. Short for people more than 140 sm. And rubber “boots” can’t be fixed in one position. I am very disappointed.
