Kiinde Breast Milk Storage Twist Starter Kit

This is an amazing and innovative product. This kit comes with everything you need to get the best from Kiinde. 1. The bottles are fantastic. The design is such that my 4 month old infant can hold the bottle himself. They are light weight and because they are just a shell-it makes it easy for him to grasp onto. 2. The nipples are easy to clean(thanks to the great bottle brushes) and are the only thing that needs to be cleaned at the end of the day. This is my favorite part! At the end of the day, all I have to do is throw the pouches in the trash and wash the nipples. It saves so much time and energy. The slow flow nipples are still too quick for my little guy, but the genius of this kit is that I can use the adapters and screw on any other nipples I like. 3. Adapters-there are several different adapters that come with the kit, which is fantastic, since I use one type of breast pump at work and another type at home. I also use the adapters to accommodate a different nipple (see above). 4. The bags-they are easy and convenient. You can store them easily with the shelving unit that comes with the kit. They are also easy to snap into his bottle and you can squeeze them during feeding to speed the flow if needed. Because they are bags instead of bottles no air accumulates meaning it no gas for my baby! The day care seemed a little confused when I first brought these bottles in, but after a few days they loved them too! All in all this is a fantastic product and I would highly recommend it. The only draw back is the price of the replacement bags. After thinking it through a bit, my husband and I decided it was worth the extra money at the end of the month since the product is so great and versatile and clean up is a breeze.

First of all, if you are a BF mama, you will thank your lucky stars the day you found Kiinde (apparently pronounced “kind”). This whole system avoids milk transfers, as you pump directly into freezer bags, and when using them, feed directly from the freezer bags using the Kiinde nipple (IBCLC approved, even for my babe who had tongue tie!) or use a provided adapter to use the nipple of your choice. Pros: -Genius system that facilitates milk storage without messy transfers -Quality bags. I’ve pumped into over 100, and have yet to find a leak. Save the liquid gold! -Organized freezing: with the included stand, you can freeze them so that the top is easily visible: I label bags there, and use a “first in, first out” system easily -Reduces colic: the bag collapses as baby sucks, due to the negative pressure, so they aren’t pulling in air. Great for newborns and tongue-tied babies. -Recyclable! This was a huge one for me, as I was worried about the waste. I’m so pleased they thought of this. Cons: -when you force all of the air out of the bag (as directed) I learned to store the bottle horizontally until I was ready to feed baby, or if we took a break. Otherwise, it fills with air very quickly, negating the whole anti-colic aspect. A top for the nipple that prevented “air backflip” would be awesome -Price: these puppies aren’t cheap, look for a sale if you can! I’m on to 8oz bags, and spending a small fortune. I also pump into bottles if I don’t plan on freezing the milk. The freezer organizer is also CRAZY expensive for a simple piece of plastic.. I ended up buying a second starter kit (on sale, it was only a few dollars more than just the freezer organizer - crazy). -Adapter waste: I’ve used the Spectra and Medela pump adapters, and have about 25,634 other adapters stashed away. It would be nice if there was a way to choose only what you need, to avoid the waste. I guess it’s an inventory control thing, but seriously, there’s enough plastic in our oceans without adding these rings to the mix. I'm loving this system for a few reasons...but I will mention the drawbacks near the end. I was having some storage issues after returning to work. Pumping straight into these bags, and freezing them at work has completely eliminated my storage issues. No more milk has gone to waste! The exposure to air was a big issue with my milk, as well as trying to refrigerate and transport versus freezing. I would buy the kit again for the bottle nipple alone. It is so similar to a breast, my babe never fusses over it, even on Mondays after being able to nurse all weekend. The way that it is shaped paired with the collapsible bag has eliminated all of her gassy issues! One downfall to this system is having to buy bag refills. I have tried washing the bags with everything to remove film/odor. If you wash and dry properly you can get 2 uses out of the bags, but after that, it's not worth risking the bacteria. It was also a learning curve to learn how to pump directly into the bags without spilling any milk. The bags topple over easily. And you sometimes have to pull the bags open while pumping to distribute air/pressure in the bag so the milk will go to the bottom. My biggest issue is with the measurement. These bags are NOT accurate just by looking at them! You have the pinch the corners at the base of the bag while it is sitting up, and push it together to find the lowest measurement. That's what I go off of. It's easy peasy once you overcome these small setbacks! Overall the system is GREAT. No more washing bottles, and super easy for my caregiver to use/defrost. Viene con muchos adaptadores y le quedó al del extractor que tenia, ademas las mamilas son de muy buena calidad y es muy ligero.

I waited for this product for two weeks.. so excited for this promised "game changer".. well it is. Is makes pumping life easier BUT it is not safe for the babies.. my milk was taking a blue color from the pouch and i had to throw a big quantity of precious expressed milk. So disappointed.
