A good starter meter for any budding maker or DIYer that won't break the bank.
This is my review of the following items: Klein Tools model MM300 digital multimeter PLEASE NOTE: I am NOT Gough Lui or Dave Jones at EEVBlog. Therefore, I do not have access to thousands of dollars of expensive test gear to fully validate the usability or reliability of these products. This review is from the viewpoint of the average buyer/user of above listed products. It is not an exhaustive test and there will be some information provided that's still preliminary due to insufficient testing time alloted. This will be carefully noted in each item's review and preliminary information will be updated as time allows. GENERAL REVIEW - This multimeter is quite the respectable lot. It is VERY sturdily built and passes the "twist test" with gusto. The leads are very flexible and the connectors plug into the meter very snugly and won't fall out easily. The tips of the probes are sharp, but not so sharp that they'd go right through you easily. Also, the manual range switch is very stout and tight, with a very firm click that's reassuring to the touch. If there are any flaws with this meter, it would probably be the very long delay that you wait for the buzzer to sound when touching the probes together in continuity mode. I've seen meters reviewed by the likes of EEVBlog and The Defpom that are faster acting than this one, but that may be due to things outside my control including dirty probes. However, it registers voltage and resistance very quickly and the 1.5-9 volt battery test is useful. I am confident that this meter will last a long time with the proper care. The only other issue I can find, aside from the tardy response time in continuity mode, is Klein Tools' choice to use AAA cells instead of AA cells to power this meter, but I suppose that's a case of "You get what you pay for". I am not able to test it, but I'm certain this meter will survive 600 volts without issue. How many cheap sub-$20 Chinese meters do you know that can do that? CLOSING THOUGHTS - To summarize, the Klein Tools MM300 is a competent and very well-built meter that also accomplishes this without draining your wallet. It does have its limitations like a slow response to continuity checks and limited battery life owing to its use of AAA cells instead of AA cells. But overall, I'd recommend this meter for the individual who is just starting out in his/her first electronics project or the intrepid do-it-yourself home handyman who just needs a basic no-frills multimeter that's also reasonably inexpensive, very robust and abides totally to safety codes and regulations and won't crap out after a year or two of use.

Excellent performance excellent orice
Its nice to see brand names still can do something at a reasonable price point. The case is very sturdy. The orange part is thick rubber, the stand is a nice touch. The leads are not bad either, I've paid more and got less.

It's a REAL meter!
I had ordered a less expensive meter, and the lead terminals that plug into the unit fell apart. I was careful with it but that didn't matter. I have had this Klein meter for 2 years now and it never fails me! Would buy again.

Great value for your money
Still works after several months of use and pretty accurate for voltage. Cheap and survived some drops. Good value.

Works great and has nice features
It seems to be accurate. Features such as beeping when taking a reading and storage on the back for cords are nice.
