So very awesome - Could there be better out there??? I dont care if there is!!
So love these headphones. They are actually worth the (appropriate) amount of space they take up in my carry on for what they do.I purchased Sennheiser PXC 450 and Bose Quiet Comfort 15 headphones for my father. I tried them both side by side and could see they each had their advantages and disadvantages. I have not had opportunity to compare my Solitude side by side with either - and to be honest - I dont need to. I love these headphones. The fact they are a fraction of the price of the others is just such a bonus - and in the real world where you occasionally lose things in travel - I have far less concern about losing these.I just put another 36 hours on mine - Round trip to Hong Kong. I set of Rayovac batteries that were still working when I switched off.Noise cancelling works brilliantly - it is amazing how much more comfortable these long hauls are with these headphones. Sound quality is also awesome. No doubt it could well be better from some other headphones costing 3 or 4 times as much - I dont care. I am sitting on a plane wishing time away - not riding in a Bentley on my way to polo. These headphones are so very comfortable - perhaps by biggest complaint about many options for headphones is comfort - no issue or re positioning needed with these at all.Highly recommend these!! buying more for the family for next trip!

Unless you're a sound snob, this is excellent value!
I read a review that claimed this was just like the Bose without the hefty price tag -- I beg to disagree. There is a significant difference. The Bose is still superior. HOWEVER, I am rating it in terms of value because that's what it's about. I do not want to spend $300 so I don't get the Bose. But for $80 this is well worth the price! Batteries last long, comfortable to wear, with very good noise canceling feature and a sturdy case. It does the job. I've used it on at least 6 flights and I couldn't complain about the sound quality nor the noise-canceling! I end up fumbling for the volume control -- for some reason I never find it easily -- but that's probably my fault! The shiny finish on the ear muffs look a little tacky, but other than that it's a good design. Great job, Solitude, you saved me $220!

Comfortable, Great Sound quality, Great battery life, and Cost effective.
I have had the Solitude XCS2 since July, 2016. I purchased it to replace the previous Solitude that I had for over 6 years. The reason for the replacement was I had WORN it out.On a plane, the NC is great and it is NOT affected by the pressure differences. The Horrible Beats by Dre just has this effect like a slamming periodic air pressure on your ears. Open a window on your car and you can get this effect. The Solitude just plain doesn't hurt the ears. Those who complain about Sound quality, I have only found that the Solitude will lower Quality if you do not turn on the NC. The NC enhances the entire experience including full immersion. The AAA battery life is really good. Went over 40 hours at least with one set before I switched it(I switch them before really long trips from time to time). Sitting in the office, will have to switch a set every week or so but that is only if you want NC. Normal non-NC is power free.I bought extra sound cables as most headphones come with crap sound cables. 6-7 dollars extra from Amazon gets you sets of 3. I tend to break the cables on planes (getting them caught in seats etc). The price speaks for itself. It is extremely cost effective and high quality.Bottom line: I travel 2-3 times a Month in planes and walk around various new places and I keep these headphones on for sometimes 18 hours at a clip. They are comfortable, light, and best NC I have used. I am a Metal Head and the base and treble is enough to have me rocking and these can help you too!

Bose-busting Noise Canceling Headphones
I bought the headphones on a Daily Deal for $78. This may be heretical but I prefer them to Bose headphones, with better sound and noise cancellation. I find them a tad tight on the sides of my ears but this is minor. The non-active sound is a little muffled but the active sound is cleaner than Bose and any other headphone I have had. It makes listening to everything from the Beatles to Bach enjoyable. I have no hesitation in recommending them.Follow up: after 2 months these are still my favorite. And the batteries are lasting months.

Superb Sound Quality and Noise-Canceling at a Very Reasonable Price!
I am very happy with these headphones! I accidentally ordered them thinking they were blue-tooth (that's what I get for shopping when I'm sleepy, late at night).....I decided to keep them because they sounded so good. The audio quality is superb with an expansive soundstage, very detailed and rich with good low end, midrange and highs. In addition to great sound, I was looking for good noise cancellation function because I bought these primarily to wear while mowing the grass. I have a very loud lawn mower (it's a 33" wide walk behind Cub Cadet model with dual blades and a 420cc engine). I have to say the noise cancellation function exceeded my expectations -- effectively reducing the engine noise to a very low background hum and allowing me to keep the music or podcast I'm listening to at a normal volume. I used to have to turn the volume up to max with the Apple earbuds I was using and still couldn't hear what I was listening to very well. I also tested this feature on a flight this week. I had a window seat right over the wings on a Boeing 737-800 which has wing-mounted engines -- the sound of the engines was barely audible. The packaging, instruction booklet and storage case that came with these headphones is nicely-designed. The case is reinforced nylon which is good because the headphones were protected -- as I had to stuff the case into my already overstuffed backpack. If you're looking for a noise canceling, over-the-ear headphones with excellent audiophile quality sound at a very affordable price, then look no further -- the Solitude XCS2s are a great choice!

this is an amazing product. I highly recommend
For the money, this is an amazing product. I highly recommend. The sound is absolutely great. The phones work with or without noise activation engaged, however, the sound is far superior with it activated. Having the option is great, as I am a drummer and when I want to play along to music, you definitely want it deactivated so you can hear the music without sound interruption from the striking the drums when activated. The noise cancelling works very effectively. It comes with a very strong case, two adapters, two cable and batteries. These babies are nearly as good as my Bose, very marginal difference.
