Saves Your Brown Sugar
Great product! Easy to use. Make sure you soak the terracotta insert for 30 minutes before placing it in the lid and closing the container for the first time. Periodically re-soak the terracotta insert every few weeks.

Love that this fits an entire bag of brown sugar while keeping it soft for months.
I’ve been using this container for about 7 months and it has worked out perfectly to store my brown sugar. Couple of things that make this better than my old container: 1. Size: This holds an entire bag of sugar with some room left over. My old container, an OXO, just couldn’t fit the entire bag let alone any sort of spoon or measuring utensil. 2. Softness: The terracotta disc isn’t a gimmick. It works very well to keep your brown sugar soft and easy to work with. In the 7 months I’ve had it I have soaked the disc in water (to “recharge” it) maybe 3-4 times. My sugar has never dried out during those months. It’s very easy to throw it in a cup of water before work, dry it off afterwards and reinstall. The mechanism that holds it to the top of the lid is also very well built and feels sturdy and long lasting (made of rubber to easily get the disc on and off). 3. Closure: The lid closure/lock seals the container very well to ensure that everything stays in place. 4. Price: I believe it is well worth the low cost to ensure that you have a great looking, secure, and moisture retaining container for your brown sugar.

Works much better than previous methods I have tried to keep brown sugar soft.
I'm sure we all know that keeping brown sugar in the original bag, no matter how hard you try to get all of the air out of the bag, you will end up with a block of hard brown sugar that is very difficult to use. I have tried putting the sugar into an airtight container with a moist paper towel under the cover and sealed in. This method quickly ends up with a dry paper towel and rock hard sugar. When I saw this brown sugar keeper, I decided to try it. The container holds a full 2 lb. bag of brown sugar, and is air tight. I soaked the terra cotta disk for 20 minutes, put it back in the holder at the top of the lid, and crossed my fingers. One month later, my brown sugar is as fresh and soft as it was when I first opened the bag. As yet, I haven't soaked the disk again, but I am assuming it would have to be soaked every 2-3 months as the moisture is absorbed by the sugar. This works so much better than the moist paper towel method I was using and is so much easier. I just need to remember to soak the disk every 3 months or so. UPDATE 04/01/24: I have had this brown sugar keeper for 10 months, and, so far, I have soaked the disc when I got it and again once a few months later. I used my brown sugar today, and it is still as soft as the day I bought it. This is really the best, and likely the only, way to store brown sugar. I have added a video to show my brown sugar after 10 months of storage in this container. So far, I am loving this brown sugar keeper and would recommend it. I hope this review was helpful for you.

Good storage, but broke after awhile.
I bought this back in 2019 and it has been awesome. But after 7 years of use the red clip that keeps it closed broke off. I used in for Parmesan cheese storage in the refrigerator. I don't know if storing it in the cold made it more brittle, but sadly has broken. I am happy for the 7 years of use though. With the brown sugar container the clip that held the terracotta disk broken several years ago. I bought the two containers together.

It Works!
I have used the slice of bread process and it works. I have use the break-rocks-into-pieces-put-in-microwave process and that works too. In my opinion, this is easier and more sanitary. If I forget to check the disk for a month, no harm done. If I forgot the bread, it all would end up in the trash. When first soaking the disk, there are tiny bubbles and a hissing sound (low frequency) - the disk is getting saturated with water. Let it soak 15 to 20 minutes. The lid seems ok. Not particularly impressive. We live in the high desert and brown sugar turns into a brick quickly. This system works as intended with minimal effort. You can get a terracotta bear, disk, etc and do the same with plain containers. I just like that this has a place to hold the disc so it is not in direct contact with the sugar. (That seems to turn brown sugar white, but you can get a plastic dipping container and place a terracotta piece on it) Be gentle taking the disc out. It is snuggly affixed to the lid. Start with one red prong to bend inward and release the disc gently. Pulling it or forcing it out may just break the disc and then, it is just a container. I was going to buy a couple of terracotta pieces and use my old container, but at the time, they were the same price as what I paid for this setup. About $14 Glad I gave it a try. Would I buy it again? - not likely. Once is enough. When the container cracks or disc breaks, I'll do the method of any container with a terracotta piece. But for now, it works. BTW, the sugar is soft and I had it for over a year.

This is FREAKING AWESOME!!
I bought this hoping to keep brown sugar fresh. I had 3/4 of a bag that was basically a solid rock. Couldn’t even chisel pieces off with a knife. Hit it with a hammer & got 3 large rocks. I put the “rocks” in this container (after soaking the terracotta stone for 20 mins and snapping it back into the lid) I did this Monday evening and put it in the pantry. I took it out tonight, exactly 72 hours later, and it looked like they were still rocks. I was anticipating major disappointment But, I opened it and used a plastic spoon to see how hard they still were and they broke apart as soft and malleable as a fresh bag of brown sugar!!! It’s like brand new brown sugar. I would’ve been happy for it to keep new brown sugar fresh…never did I expect it to restore rock hard brown sugar. Absolutely fantastic! The container seems solid and no problems with crumbling of the terracotta stone. Nicely fits a 32 oz bag. I 100% recommend this. Planning on getting it as a Christmas gift for all the bakers in my family this year

I read all the reviews before buying this and to be perfectly honest, I did not completely believe all the claims. But it genuinely works and works brilliantly. I had a lump of brown sugar - still the bag - that I was able to break into a chunk that would just fit into the container. I had to use a hammer to break it. A week later, I was spooning it out and the texture was just perfect. If you use brown sugar intermittently, this is most definitely a must have addition to your kitchen.

Pasé mi azúcar morena al contenedor y cuando la usé. Estaba toda pegada, tuve que raspar con una cuchara para usarla.
