With 54 bags purchased I think I can offer an opinion...KK Dark Roast is excellent
With the most recent delivery on my subscription, I realized that I had purchased 54 two-pound bags of KK Dark Roast since I first started drinking it. 3 years ago. That's $1544 worth of purchases! I get it every 3 weeks on the subscription. My brew method is drip and I grind the beans just before brewing. Beans are stored in the original bag or my dedicated coffee storage canister. I use two tablespoons of beans per cup of filtered cold water. My brewer is not fancy, a $35 Mr Coffee from Walmart though I am considering an upgrade soon. I use the "strong" brew setting also. The KK Dark Roast has an amazing aroma on the fresh beans especially while brewing and permeates the kitchen. The flavor lives up to the aroma. I use some half/half, and a bit of honey to sweeten it. The brewed coffee is smooth, not bitter but with deep flavor and a full body. The acid level is moderate to low and never upsets my stomach. Early on I experimented with brewing it stronger but found that if you go too strong other flavors come through that make the cup less enjoyable, Since it is a dark roast the bean can be oily when fresh. I make sure to thoroughly clean my grinder with hot soapy water (where applicable) to remove the oils and prevent them from going rancid. I do this with each new bag.I hardly have any negative comments that I think warrant mention but others have complained that the bag has a small opening and makes it difficult to scoop the beans out. I purchased a dedicated coffee canister (Coffee Gator) which makes retrieving beans easier. I do wish that Koffee Kult would put a "roast date" on the bag that many other roasters do just to make sure I am getting fresh beans. I also wish that Koffee Kult would offer their beans in small quantities (like 5-10 ounces) so I could try their other brews. If you like a bold cup of coffee, try the KK Dark Roast. I think you will be satisfied.

Dark without being burned, a coffee story.
Let me start with some background. I live in rural Kentucky and have been on a search for good beans for a while. I have a burr grinder, french press combo that I've been using for going on 5 years now that have suited me well. Normally I get whole beans at the local grocery stores like Kroger or Walmart. These were not great, but were a far cry better than pre-ground coffees. Lately the supply has been drying up. The only whole beans I can find lately have been Starbucks brands. I like dark roast coffee but really don't like Starbucks. To my palate they seem burned. So, I went on a search for a decent replacement.I came across this coffee based on the reviews and the price point. I'm frugal enough that I don't like spending a fortune on non-essentials; but I'm willing to pay a bit more for an improvement. This coffee fits that bill perfectly. I was paying somewhere around $8 bucks for a 12oz. bag of beans when I could find them. These were decent enough beans, but not great. On reading of these Koffee Kult beans, I saw that if I went for the 5 pound bag the price point was at 0.62 per oz. Hell, I was paying 0.66 an oz for beans that I didn't love, so this was worth the price even at the 0.72 an oz the 2 pound bag was set at.I couldn't convince myself to go ahead and buy the 5 pound bag since if I didn't like them I'd be stuck drinking them anyway(again, frugal). So I settled for the 2 pound bag. I ordered on a Friday night and my beans were waiting on my porch when I got home from work on Monday. I had ran out of my old beans that morning so I was glad they came on time (fast). Thanks Amazon Prime for the free 2 day shipping on this purchase.I went ahead and cut open the bag and moved the beans to some airtight containers I keep in my cabinets away from the light. I took a good whiff and knew I'd like these beans. They weren't overly strong smelling, but with a good dark coffee smell and just a hint of spiciness. I put them up and looked forward to the morning.Tuesday morning I ground up some beans and prepared them in my Bodum French Press. I really enjoyed them. They make me want to get a larger coffee cup to carry to work every day because I finish the one I have long before I'm ready to be done with the coffee. I had a heart attack early this year so don't really want to press my luck on caffeine intake...but this coffee makes me want to. Don't worry, my cardiologist says I'm fine as long as I keep it below 4-5 cups a day since I don't drink soda. But my little 3 cup insulated cup might need an upgrade. Now, I'm not going to say this coffee is a revelation or the greatest thing since sliced bread (what's so great about sliced bread anyway?). What I will say is that it is much better than what I was buying at near about the same price point. It's a heady, dark, chocolaty drink with just a hint of spice. Dark without the bitterness of burned beans (I'm looking at you Starbucks). If you are grinding your own beans (which you should) then I would recommend you give these beans a shot.I don't know if I'll buy the 5 pound bag next time. I'm going to wait and see how the beans hold up over time in my cabinet before I make that call. What I do know is that I'll be ordering these again when I start to run out of what I have.

Perfectly cromulent.
For the price, it's a good medium roast. It tastes good, and has a lotta character. Plus, the bonus of being whole bean and single origin are nice. But I think it's maybe a bit pricey, and I think I'd prefer if the bigger sizes were on prime. 20 bucks for 12 ounces just seems like a bit much, but eh, I guess that's what ya get with specialty coffee. Anyhow, it's good, and if you somehow have a little extra money to spend in this economy, I'd get it over like Thousand Acre.

This coffee is good, but has a non-traditional flavor
First, this coffee took forever to arrive. Second, it is definitely a dark roast, and it has a good taste, but not one that I would want every day. I am going back to my Starbucks French Roast.

Robust and flavorful
I have searched far and wide for the perfect coffee bean. But before Koffee Kult, I was always left feeling sad and alone. I came upon it on Amazon and liked the name. For I consider myself to love coffee so much that I would happily join a cult of fellow coffee lovers. I added the beans to my precious Breville espresso machine, and patiently waited for what I thought would be yet another disappointment. I took my first sip, and had to immediately stop in order to come to grips with what I had just tasted. The flavor was so beautiful and smooth, and I greedily took another gulp, disregarding the burns I undoubtedly would sustain to my taste buds. I didn’t care. I needed more and I needed it now. I hadn’t even finished my cup of coffee before I grabbed my phone and clicked that Subscribe and Save button. I have never looked back or even thought about switching to a new brand of coffee. Do yourself a favor and buy this nectar of the gods.
