Bots
We enjoyed this. All the pieces were located and we were able to build different things. A good education on building things and able to spend family time together.

Great STEM concept, but note: You can only build one at a time!
I bought this LEGO Gear Bots set for my 7-year-old. He was incredibly excited about the concept of building moving machines, and overall, it’s a very cool STEM-focused activity. The instructions are great. The included book is high quality and the steps are very easy for a child to follow, which really got my son engaged and excited right out of the box. The concept of using gears to create "bots" is a great way to introduce mechanical movement to kids. The biggest takeaway from our experience is that there are not enough pieces to build multiple bots at once. I was under the impression that we could build several characters, but you actually have to take your current bot apart to build the next one. In our house, we typically like to build a LEGO set and keep it together for display or play, so this was a bit of a letdown. If your child is like mine and doesn't enjoy disassembling their hard work, you might not get as much longevity out of this set as you’d hope. To really make this a 5-star product, LEGO/Klutz should have included enough components to have at least two models built simultaneously. Despite that one drawback, the price point seems very fair for the quality of the book and the specialized pieces you receive. We are satisfied with the purchase, but I wish I had known about the "one-at-a-time" requirement beforehand.

Great Set for Kids!
Great for keeping kids busy. Difficult enough for a challenge and easy enough to make it fun.

Fun
Cute but I don't recommend for little kids. Parts are small if it comes apart.

Grandson Loves This
My 11 year old grandson loves building his creations with these gears. I got him some battery run motors for Christmas and he had a great time building cars that can be controlled with a remote.

Our grandson requested this for Christmas and likes it
We got this for our grandson for Christmas and he seems to love it. It was something he requested, so that would set to be something he would like. It seems very functional and has creative value and is easy for him to use. It would appear to be educational as well. We live thousands of miles away in the Caribbean so unfortunately did not get to see him play with it enough.
