Hi
I bought this years ago and it still works amazing,The only thing negative I would have to say about it is you have to position it exactly otherwise you can’t turn it up very high, and then it moves about

Old school centrifuge
This device is very similar to the centrifuges that we used in my high school chemistry lab. It's state of the art 1970's technology. It was old when I used it in the 1990's, but it worked.I did a series of about 40 runs on this machine to help clarify a particularly gooey herbal remedy that I make (contains several types of tree sap). I used either 1000 or 2000 rpm, with about a five minute timer. That was sufficient to get the liquid clear enough to filter. (I got over a liter through a 2 inch filter disc on a vacuum filter, and probably could have done more, but it would start to slow down at about that point.)I encountered no problems at all, however, if you have no experience with this type of thing, it could be very easy to damage. It's a fairly sensitive device as far as balance is concerned. I found that I needed to balance the weight of the tubes down to about +/- 0.1 grams. If your opposing pairs of tubes are off by more than that, it starts making a lot of noise, and if it's really loud, you have to turn it off pretty quickly to keep from destroying it. If you manage to balance the tubes exactly, at 2000 rpm, it makes only a very pleasant whirring noise. It's kind of tough to balance by eyeballing the liquid level in the tubes, but I was able to do it by using a pipette to transfer a few drops back and forth until it looked good. The included tubes say that they are good for 20 ml, but if you are going higher speed (e.g. 2000 rpm), I would suggest going only to about 19 ml. Otherwise, liquid starts coming out the sides of the tube and getting on the rotor. Getting different tubes with caps would solve that problem.

Don’t waste your money
Crap. Used it twice and shut off, won’t start. Don’t waste your money.

Worth the money.
It's very inexpensive for what it does. One slight concern is that the lid is a cheap plastic thing that could easily pop off, exposing rapidly spinning tubes to fingers. Just be careful and keep away from children. It doesn't come with a chart converting RPM to "g-forces" which could be important for a lot of applications. But it does report that 4000rpm (max) = 1790 g. Using the conversion formula, I deduced that the spin radius is 10cm, which seems accurate to my eyeballing measurement. One can then use the formula: RCF = 11.2 x Radius x (RPM/1,000)^2 to calculate the G forces at all other speeds for this centrifuge.
