What the Ladybird Heard Next: 2 : Donaldson, Julia, Monks, Lydia: desertcart.co.uk: Books Review: Lovely - Granddaughters and daughter love what the ladybird heard books. Review: Hugh and Len foiled again? - Hefty Hugh and Lanky Len are two bad men with another cunning plan. This is a sequel but has the right amount of new story and familiarity from the first. Lydia Monks' animation, with added glitter, is bright and fun and full of detail. I could probably find my way round that farm without ending up in the duck pond. Julia Donaldson is at her finest with the storytelling, lovely and funny rhymes. This is a sequel but easy enough to read without having read the first. That said, read the first! I'm hoping Len & Hugh can stage another comeback but they aren't the best criminals so who knows where they'll end up?

Great little read
Julia Donaldson does it again! As with the previous book we absolutely love this story, its a fantastic read that children can easily engage with. I like the fact that we could link the two stories in with each other and my little boy was excited to see what happened next, he really thought how the thieves were captured was hilarious. Again the illustrations are beautiful.

Great book
Bought this for my daughter(who is 3 years old) who I read to every night before bedtime. My daughter has a big range of books, but time and time again she chooses this book, she loves it. She likes to hear about the two naughty robbers, and the book is in no way scary at all. Highly recommend,

A Clever Sequel That Delights Again!
What the Ladybird Heard Next is another gem from Julia Donaldson that had my child giggling and guessing from start to finish. The story picks up with our clever little ladybird and her farmyard friends as they foil yet another sneaky plan from the bumbling duo, Hefty Hugh and Lanky Len. It’s packed with rhymes, repetition, and just the right amount of suspense to keep little ones hooked. The illustrations by Lydia Monks are vibrant and full of texture, my child loves spotting the glittery ladybird on each page. The animals are expressive and fun, and the farm setting feels cozy and familiar. It’s a great read-aloud book, with plenty of opportunities for silly voices and sound effects. This sequel holds its own beautifully and adds a fresh twist to the original tale. If your child enjoyed What the Ladybird Heard, they’ll love this follow-up. It’s clever, colourful, and full of heart - an instant favourite in our bedtime rotation!

Every child needs this book!
This is the best book for circa 1 year olds, my daughter has been obsessed with it and the prequel. She spots the ladybirds on every page and loves all the animals that you repeatedly have to do the noises for. Great for a child growing up in the countryside to teach them animals they will see all the time. It's a good storyline for adults to enjoy reading it too, even 5 times a day!

Cute story and nice book. Great for young children learning animal sounds and older children learning how to problem solve.
