Q: Anyone tried replacing the supplied 12v power adapter? would a laptop charger (19v, 3,4a, 65w) be an improvement? perhaps adding a heatsink to chip?

I use an external 12v Astron power supply but have used a 19v laptop brick (can't remember the amps, but over 3a for sure) and it sounded great. No need for an added heatsink since it was designed to run on 12-24 volts.

Q: Is it best to run with 4ohm speakers of 35 rms that has Efficiency 91 decibals or 50 rms at 88 ?

91dB @ 1W = 106dB @ 35W. 88dB @ 1W = 105db @ 50W.

Q: Can i get headphones plugged into the amplifier? i'm trying to go record player > amplifier > headphones...if that is possible

Only if you adapt the speaker outputs to a plug that fits your headphones. Then you'll want to put resistors in the circuits because headphones will literally burn your ears out running them on a speaker output.
