Definitely recommended! Highly useful information that you can customize to your own family without sacrificing quality of life.
This is a GREAT resource! Very well written, so happy these authors decided to share their wisdom! I've successfully cut our grocery bill in half after just reading the first two chapters, and am confident I can reduce it even more, and we're eating 100% organic. We were practically hemorrhaging money before on our grocery bill and paying ALMOST as much as our mortgage each month on groceries for a family of three (going on four). I haven't even read the rest of the book yet and it's revolutionized our house. Before, we were spending a LOT more on groceries, shopping every single week, and with lack of planning, sometimes we weren't even making all three meals and would still end up ordering out last minute. They provide very simple strategies that DON'T involve eating crap, and that's what I liked the most. I've researched a lot of articles online and read some other budgeting books which basically ask you to skimp and eat rice and beans or buy foods in bulk and eat the same meal day in and day out, that is NOT what this book asks you to do! I can't really go into all of the strategies they present because there are many, but they have a very definite PROCESS that they go through which involves planning and just being aware of sales. You get to still go to your favorite grocery stores but just learn how to shop them smarter (and less often!) I'm excited to read more. But I also liked that I could put my OWN spin on their strategies because after all, that's the only way they're going to work (because making a 100% 180 life change isn't always something easy to stick to but if you integrate it into the way you already do things, it'll be easier to follow) For instance, I think this family is able to spend even less than we were able to because I get the sense that they don't care if they're buying organic or not. In our family, we HAVE to because of various food allergies and sensitivities. It's not an option for us to buy a lot of conventional foods that this family who wrote this book seem to buy. But we didn't have to switch from organic to conventional foods because the strategies are sweeping and able to be applied in many different situations and circumstances and easy to customize to YOUR family. I think that's why their strategies are so effective. VERY recommended.

Progress!
I bought this book about 2 months ago. Me and my husband had just been married, and wanted to learn how to spend our money more wisely. I've been researching on how to be more frugal, reading online, going on You Tube, your basic search. This is where I came across the Economide's. After following their videos and website I finally decided the purchase the book.We ended up using gift money from our wedding to purchase a freezer, we bought it new, because in the end we wanted to invest our money wisely, and buying a energy saving appliance is always a good thing. As soon as our new freezer was hooked up and ready to rock we planned our first trip to the grocery store. Well I wan't to say I saved big, but I didn't. Don't get me wrong I saved about 30 percent on my grocery bill, but felt like it should of been more. After thinking about it, I decided to regroup and try again on are next scheduled shopping trip. This time taking more notice of what I was doing, and how I was planning my shopping list with the sales and the stores. Bingo! We saved 45 percent, my mouth dropped a little as I was at check out. I felt happy and more confident with my ability to save money. What I'm pointing out is this book really does help, even if you only use a few of the suggestions. Now every time I visit the grocery store I've noticed that I'm saving a little bit more with each trip, the last being 62%, not bad! So Yes I highly recommend this book to anyone who is just starting out, even a pro. Just remember everything takes practice, but if you keep up with it you will see progress.

Helped me to become more organized and focused while grocery shopping.
I enjoyed learning how the Economides family saves money while grocery shopping and while I cannot not use all of the money saving techniques that they discussed in their book, I have already become more organized and methodical in my approach to grocery shopping. For example, the most important technique that I learned from the book is to plan your meals in advance and make a shopping list from this plan. It may sound like an easy thing to do initially but it did take some work for me. I started with one week at a time. Once you have your meals planned out then grocery shopping becomes a more structured and focused task. I recommend the book to anyone who wants to find another way to save money and time on a task that we all most do. I appreciated that the authors mentioned several times in their book that their specific techniques were not for every family and they are right about this. I read the book in two afternoons and after implementing just a few of their recommendations I had a positive return on my reading investment. :)
