My old voltmeter was giving me false readings. This one is accurate enough for my purpose and the other functions that it has will serve me well. It's small design is good enough to be used with one hand. It's made by Klein which makes good quality and durable products. A lot cheaper than Home Depot.

This product is entry level and works for my main purpose of the clamp measuring 120V AC current. I cannot verify that accuracy, but displayed values are reasonable and it does measure consistently. 5 stars is based on the kit as a whole at the price point for basic home use. Hold and Max functions capture general uses, but it won't measure fast peaks. The main unit and the handy outlet tester are ETL/Intertek listed, but the line splitter is not. Internally it consists of ten turns of enameled wire connected to the neutral line. As a multimeter the 3 1/2 digits is minimal, the accuracy is not great, the leads are cheap, etc. but it is useful if you don't want to carry a second good meter in addition to the clamp meter. One annoying quirk is that although the 10-minute auto power off can disabled, the clamp meter will continue to beep every ~10 minutes. On the other hand, the nice backlight display will stay on the whole time (either until auto power off or manual OFF) which is great for dim areas. The clamp meter works fine with 3x AAA NiMH batteries.

I am not a professional electrician, just a DIY homeowner who decided I wanted something a little better than my basic, $20 multi-meter. As a multi-meter it doesn't really do much of anything beyond what my old $20 one does, it measures AC & DC voltage, continuity, etc. but with two big exceptions. One, it can read amps through a hot wire using the clamp, and two it integrates an NCV tester into the end of the clamp. This is the same technology those pen shaped sensors use, warning you that the circuit you thought was dead is still live. If you don't already have a multimeter, a plug tester and a NCV tester, this packages all of these common, basic electrical tools in a nice little pouch that is easy to store until you need them. The display is easy to read and can be backlit, it captures and holds maximum voltage, and the whole thing seems pretty well built. Two things I don't like: (1) there is only one test lead holder on the device itself, and (2) if you a homeowner and use it relatively infrequently, you need a screwdriver to remove the batteries. And the manual warns you that you should take the batteries out for extended storage, as if you didn't already know that, because basically all alkaline batteries eventually leak these days. If you aren't a professional who is using this every day, this is a nice set if you don't already have the plug tester and a NCV pen tester. If you do have those things already, then think carefully about how often you will want to measure amps with a clamp-meter, because that is really what this adds to the mix, along with the generally high build quality of Klein tools.

I have used several different brands of electrical meters for electrical troubleshooting in the HVAC and electrical industries, (fluke, UEI, Fieldpiece and Green Lee). I bought this multimeter kit to keep in our camper, in case the camper every had an electrical issue away from home. I can say for the money, this kit is as good as the ones I've paid 4x the amount of money for. Very happy with what this kit can do. I've definitely paid more for less.

For the homeowner or the handyman, this unit is sufficient for almost any task. As a fan of Klein electrical tools, I decided on this clamp meter due to it having the basic functions I require as a handyman. For functions like voltage, both AC and DC, continuity, and amp load this meter is easy to use and read. The included line splitter for the clamp allows amps to be measure from receptacles and the receptacle tester is a valuable tool that indicates by lights if the outlet is wired correctly.
