Great game set
Bought this recently, as my son learned chess, but wanted some other options, in case he gets bored or something that he can play with his younger sister. It's magnetic, not very strong on the pieces, but they do hold well. Size is decent and the chess can be folded with the pieces stored insight, but the other game sheets need to be stored somewhere flat, so it's a bit inconvenient if you want to ditch the box and keep it folded. Maybe of the sheets themselves were foldable as well, would have been better. Overall, great value for money and happy kids (for now).

A real chess game with Harry Potter flair – fun once you get past setup
As a Harry Potter fan and a chess player, I was curious (and a little cautious) about this Lexibook Harry Potter Electronic Tactile Chess. I’m happy to say it’s actual chess, not a novelty version with altered “wizard chess” rules. What stood out to me right away is the thematic creativity. The Harry Potter design adds personality without getting in the way of gameplay, which makes it especially appealing for fans who still want a legitimate chess experience. The electronic tactile board works well once you understand how it responds to piece movement. I’ll be honest—the initial setup and learning curve took a bit of patience. The instructions aren’t immediately intuitive, and it took me a few tries to feel confident using it correctly. That said, once you get the hang of it, the game becomes very enjoyable, especially for players who already know how to play chess. This isn’t just a toy—it’s best suited for chess players or motivated beginners, particularly those who love the Harry Potter universe and want something a little different from a standard board. Bottom line: A creative and fun chess set that stays true to real chess rules. Setup takes some effort, but once you’re past that, it’s a solid and entertaining experience—especially for Harry Potter fans.

Not bad for the price, poor pieces though
For the price, the chess computer is reasonable value for money; however, the chess pieces are terrible. They are made of hollow plastic and far too light. I kept knocking pieces over while playing and lost track of where some of the pieces were, so had to keep using the buttons to find the piece locations. The pieces are totally impractical, so you either need to buy some heavier pieces or adapt the existing ones. I filled my set with epoxy glue and attached some heavy 20mm x 2mm steel washers underneath as shown in the photos. They are much more stable now and the set is actually usable!

Cheap and nasty but very expensive and faulty.
Would give it zero stars if I could. Do not touch this with a 10 foot pole. Got it for my son for Christmas just opened it and it is make of cheap plastic. The pieces have magnets on the bottom and three of them fell of instantly and none of the buttons, on off or anything else worked. It says it runs of three AA batteries but there is jo battery compartment but there is a charging lead. When it did turn on an ot did was cycle through some flashing lights and did nothing else. Very disappointed son on Christmas day. Also as you will see from the pictures it is also showing visible signs of damage.

I am enjoying this chess computer very much
My first Chessman had a fault which I had to return The replacement is excellent. I have previously been using the Millennium Chess Genius (£170) and like the Chessman much better. There is a good choice of levels to choose from, it is easy to tap a square with a light touch to move a piece (not so with the Chess Genius) and it is user friendly. For very good players the ELO of 1800 may not be strong enough (the Chess Genius is 2200 i think) but ELO 1800 is plenty strong enough for me.
