The trials and tribulations of criminal lawyer, Saul Goodman, in the time leading up to establishing his strip-mall law office in Albuquerque, New Mexico. Review: Wonderful Show - Great series -- I can't wait to see the next season. However, my case came with a loose disc inside that appears to be scratched. I don't know yet if it is damaged -- hoping for the best. I wish there wasn't such a long wait between seasons -- that is my only complaint about this dark but funny show. Although it is a "prequal" to BREAKING BAD, and has the same high level of fine acting, perfect art direction and stunning photography, the story has more humor. This would seem to be at odds with the subject matter, but like another dark series, ORANGE IS THE NEW BLACK, the snappy dialog and often absurdly funny situations help to keep this story from becoming too dark and scary to look at -- but the suspense is a large part of its appeal, too. The three principal actors, Rhea Seehorn, Jonathan Banks, and especially Bob Odenkirk as Jimmy McGill on his journey to becoming "Saul Goodman," have almost everything to do with the success of this series. These actors are fascinating to watch. I love this show! Review: Outstanding series, worth having - Having the whole series only makes sense

IN THIS VIEWER'S EYES, THE DARKEST OF THE 6 SEASONS. HATED TO WAIT FOR SEASON 6 TO BE RELEASED, SO WE WENT BACK AND SAW SEASON 5 AGAIN, SO AS NOT TO LOSE VISUAL AND PLOT IMPACT. INTELLIGENT, SUPERBLY WRITTEN AND CRAFTED, A COMPELLING EPIC AND WILL STAND THE TEST OF TIME.

Great storytelling from talent that works so well together.
Another wonderful season from this great show. Everything is top-notch: acting, writing, editing, camera work, music and sound. The BluRay presentation is beautiful. All in service of a story that becomes more tragic, dark, complex and compelling each season.

Over the period of the previous four series of Better Call Saul we have seen the character of Jimmy McGill's behaviour as a lawyer move from questionable to unethical and now having regained his licence to practice law under the name of Saul Goodman he begins the journey to downright illegal activities by getting involved with the Salamanca Cartel. in addition to his slightly dubious methods to attract new clients with his "50% Off" schemes he comes into contact with Lalo Salamanca and is induced into representing him on a murder charge and in particular with arranging bail which involves a car trip to Mexico and which proves to be more tortuous and a risk to his life than ever envisaged. On the personal side his long-standing relationship with Kim Wexler deepens whilst she juggles work responsibilities for the Mesa Verde Bank with her commitment to doing pro bono work. In the meantime Mike Ehrmantraut is having his own problems following the events depicted in Season 4 concerning the construction of Gus Fring's super meth lab. During the course of Season 5 we meet DEA Agent Hank Shrader (Walter White's brother-in-law from Breaking Bad) and also Lalo's cousins Leonel and Mario Salamanca the taciturn and ruthless enforcers for the cartel with their distinctive winkle-picker hand tooled Mexican boots (a delight in themselves) as well as other cartel members familiar from earlier episodes. I will refrain from mentioning any specific plot developments for obvious reasons apart from saying that Kim reveals unsuspected nerves of steel when confronted by Lalo who is interrogating Jimmy about the events surrounding his collecting the bail money. It is a sign of supreme confidence in the production of this show that an entire episode can be founded on the basis of the dropping by Jimmy of an ice cream cone on the sidewalk which slowly disappears over a period of time whilst it is consumed by an increasing number of red ants ! Also the now well -established routine of opening the Series with a black and white mini-drama featuring Jimmy in his post Breaking Bad persona of Gene Takavic this time around runs for over 10mins and concerns his cover being blown leading to a cliff-hanger ending of it's own as he decides to deal with the threat himself rather than rely on those who provided his new identity in the first place. The subtle delights of Better Call Saul continue to provide rich entertainment for the viewer and there isn't a single wasted moment in the ten episodes comprising Series 5. I must confess to a degree of envy for any newcomers to this show for the riches they are about to enjoy - there are very few programmes about just now of this calibre and dare one say it - does Better Call Saul in fact outstrip it's source material Breaking Bad ? I'm sure a case can easily be made that it does. Audio : English / German / Italian and Spanish Subtitles : English (Hard of Hearing) / German / Italian and Spanish Extras : Cast and Crew commentaries on all episodes / Gag Reel / Commercials and Training Videos / Crystal Balls. Extras exclusive to the Blu Ray Edition : Deleted Scenes / Tell Me Again / The Good The Bags and The Ugly / "Bagman" - The Ambush / "Bagman" - The Cannon Roll / The Effects For This !

A prequel to the Breaking Bad franchise with a combination of humour & tension. I didn't like the ludicrous "allergy to electricity" of one of the central characters. Bob Odenkirk & Jonathan Banks are excellent, though. Well defined characters & perfectly paced.
