Leadership: Theory and Practice, 6th Edition

I am reading this book for one of my graduate program classes. Just three chapters in and I am thoroughly impressed by the content. In-depth explanations and case studies increase the knowledge base of this guide into leadership studies. Peter Northouse is a superb author and posits excellent points to ponder. I have studied other leadership textbooks from my Bachelor of Arts degree and this book more than holds it's own against their content. If you are serious about becoming a better leader, this book is a must-read.

I couldn't wait to receive this valuable textbook. Not only is the practical and theoretical foundation for leadership styles explore further in this reading, but additional case studies and valuable clinical tools can be utilized in your practice. I truly enjoyed the comprehensive review of various leadership styles compatible for today's graduate student of numerous clinical backgrounds.

Purchased this for a class and found it very understandable and well-written. The diagrams are excellent, the book itself well-organized, and the case studies great for testing understanding of concepts. The absolute best part, however, is that every chapter provides a great section on strengths and weaknesses of the story. My only complaint is that the chapters never start with a very brief summary of what the theory it's covering is, so occasionally I'd finish a chapter and not really be sure I was getting the overall idea right (also made studying difficult when I'd be sitting there going "Now which theory is that again?")

Had to this text book as the assigned for my Ph.D leadership course. The book is written well and is easy to follow. Also like the hands on and case studies parts the best. The author presents the material in a way that is easy to apply the theory. Best leadership text book I have used.

I purchased this book for a class. It arrived quickly exactly when it was scheduled. I rarely purchase hard copy text books. This one is an exception. It is a must for any professional library. I recommend that you consider purchasing this book new so you can make your own notes and use it as reference for years to come.

Excellent guide

Hard to understand and apply

Most of the textbooks that I get from classes I resale but this book is a keeper. If you have any questions regarding leadership styles or methods this book gives great examples and details. It presents real life scenarios and how different leadership styles play in those scenarios. Northouse does a great job of explaining leaderships skills vs. leadership traits. It explains effective leadership skills even if you don't have the traits of leadership.

Just commenced a course on leadership and this book is an easy ready and covers quite a lot, it describes a few leadership styles and traits which not many of these books cover. This is worth having if you are a student and don't know where to start on leadership essays etc. Delivery was prompt.

Fantastic Book. A great layout, and the case studies were great ways to put the theory you read into practice.

I have read this book during my doctoral study, in fact, our professor used this as the main text book. It is one of the most comprehensive books on Leadership with complete treatment of various leadership areas. I am now recommending for my students and this purchase is for the library.
