Q: I have a King size bed, what is the width when set up?

Mine is only 24" wide, but that is not the problem. The extension into the bed covers is only 12". So unless you are very, very tall and your feet touch the footboard when you are sleeping, this will not work. I had to put on the side of my bed, and angle my feet towards it when I sleep to keep covers off my feet. It is not overly sturdy and is also not high enough. I hit it when I roll over in bed. I would look for another, more sturdy product.

You need to take the thickness of your mattress into consideration. The bar that holds the sheet or blanket can be adjusted to a width of 20 inches of height. This means the U shaped support bar under your mattress to the bar that holds the blanket is this measurement. I do not think you can keep the covers 4 to 6 inches away. Two to three at most is what I have. Know this is windy but hope this helps you. I like mine.

Q: will this fit on a hospital bed?

The support slides between the mattress and box spring so it stays in place. If the hospital bed only has a mattress, it will not work.

Q: Why does Blanket support keeps collapsing

Mine did collapse once I then tightened the thumbscrews that adjust hieght with pliers now have no more problems works very well.
